POST:Safe and Independent Living Project Manager
Salary:£28,000

PURPOSE OF JOB:To be responsible for the development, management and co-ordination of the Safe and Independent Living Project in Southwark to ensure older people in the borough achieve positive outcomes and are supported to remain safe and well in their own homes.

Background
The SAIL project is an exciting new identification and referral project that AUKLS is developing in partnership with Southwark Council. It aims to bring together all existing providers in the borough across all sectors, interested in supporting older and vulnerable adults to achieve positive outcomes through the development of an effective and comprehensive referral pathway scheme.
This job description does not provide an exhaustive list of tasks and activities as all posts within the organisation are subject to evolution as the organisation develops and grows.
Key Result Areas
Work with AUKLS Chief Executive and Southwark Council Commissioners on planning and priority setting for SAIL
Work with AUKLS Chief Executive and Southwark Council Commissioners, representing SAIL and developing strategic relationships with statutory and voluntary authorities including London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, Local Hospital Trusts, the South London Integrated Care Pathway, Southwark Social Care and voluntary sector agencies across the borough including BAMER and smaller community groups.
Ensure that all potential partners are fully informed of the benefits of SAIL for their organisations and for the older people of Southwark
Be responsible for the day to day management and delivery of the SAIL project
Carry out activities to promote and publicise the SAIL project amongst potential partners and older people
Develop and maintain up to date marketing, publicity and easy to use project referral paperwork including referral forms, calling cards and clear instruction notes and publicity for the handypersons service.
Plan, co-ordinate and attend regular steering group meetings, events and workshops for the SAIL partners
Develop and deliver initial and refresher training on SAIL processes for partner organisations
Working with the SAIL administrator ensure the smooth running of SAIL referrals process and that all referrals are monitored with follow up information on outcomes
Be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and evaluation systems for SAIL and producing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify areas of support for older people not currently met and work with the Chief executive to project plan and fundraise for these.
To provide regular and person centred management support for Handypersons staff including supervision, welfare and professional development including training in accordance with AUKLS policies.
To support the Handypersons project to build capacity through volunteering and establishing relationships with partner agencies seeking supported work placements.
To be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered within budget.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate empathy for older people and be committed to the promotion of a supportive and person centred working environment.

It is essential that the postholder has the following experience and knowledge:
- Experience of successful project development, implementation and management
- Experience of delivering projects in a multi agency setting, across voluntary and statutory sector services.
- Experience of writing clear project reports
- Knowledge and understanding of preventative work with older people.
- An awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of older people and an understanding of the cultural and religious needs of people from under represented groups.
It is essential that the post holder has the following skills and abilities
- Ability and skills to develop new initiatives and to respond to the changing needs of the organisation
- Ability and skills to develop and prepare effective promotional and referral materials for multi agency use.
- Ability and skills to effectively enthuse people and bring about their organisations engagement in the project
- Ability to develop and maintain best practice policies and procedures for working with older people
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to produce concise reports and documents
- Ability to develop and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Ability to work on own initiative and manage and prioritise your ownwork load
- Good numeric and accuracy skills and ability to maintain and monitor budgets.
- Computer literate (knowledge of WP, database, spreadsheet and internet systems).
- Ability to build long lasting relationships with City companies.
