Conservation Commission Members Present During the Review / David Drouin, Fred Rogers, Richard Mellor, Al Lefebvre
Others present during the Review / Roger Lafarier
Purpose for This Review / To review and confirm replenishment of sand at beach and stone at existing boat ramp and to confirm earlier clean-up of site as identified by DES.
Conclusions of the Conservation Commission / After measuring the beach and boat ramp, the Commission recommended that the Woodmere Association redraft its Wetlands Permit Application with current, up-to-date data on the size of the beach and how much sand was used. The application should reflect the beach in 2015 and include what was added over the years. The measurements taken show that the beach is 118 ft. by 47 feet. It was apparent to the Conservation Commission members present that there was 4-5 inches of sand which would have required 50-60 cubic yards of sand instead of the 10 yards indicated on the application.
For the rock replenishment application, the Commission had the same recommendation as it found that the boat ramp was 47 ft. by 18 ft.
The Association needs to go to the DES web site to gather requirements and limitations for boat ramps and beaches. The Association may also want to have a consultant provide information for an effective boat ramp that will protect the area.
The Commission visited a previous area used for dumping trash and found that it had been cleaned-up.
Votes (if Quorum) or Decisions Made by the Conservation Commission / The two Wetlands Permit Applications were returned to Roger Lafarier and recommended that more accurate and complete ones be resubmitted in August.
