KIRKBY STEPHEN SPORTS EVE FRI 28th JUNE .VENUE; Registration in Cricket Club,(Terry, Adele) fell race starting 6.45pm. Juniors; must ensure that they compete in the appropriate age category. Fraser has volunteered to man the microphone. Terry is to print FRA entry forms ready for the fell race. The route is the same as last year despite being churned by cattle. Phil has pins and the float. A great job has been made of the flyers, and these seem to have been fairly well distributed.
SUMMER SOCIAL ; The proposal is to follow the Sedbergh sports evening (July 12th) with the club social. BYO drinks and camping in the field (Buckbank Farm) afterwards!
CAUTLEY HORSE SHOE WED 12TH JUNE; Paul Brittleton is organising a fell race on behalf of the Howgill Harriers. There will be a maximum of 80 runners; as the course is quite tough, novice runners are being advised that the event will be challenging. Terry, Coops and Fraser are to help with registration and timing. Meet 5.30pm at the Cross Keys for a 7.00pm start to the fell race. The Cross Keys Inn will provide a runners supper, and there is a suggestion that runners are provided with a bottle beer for taking part.
FRA RELAY 2013 and IAN HODGSON RELAY;The decision was made to enter 2 teams for both events, one mixed and one open.
FRA RELAY 2014; The next meeting will take place after the Cautley fell race on Wednesday. It seems likely that the race will be in held between Middleton and Barbon, Roger Bainbridge has 2 fields suitable for holding the venue; flat with good access. There will be approximately 180 teams of 6 taking part.
KIRKBY STEPHEN 10 KM ROAD RACE ;Feedback; Using the coffee bar above the sports hall seemed to work really well, in addition, having the swimming pool open day on the same day made things more appealing for the juniors. The race was well supported by the junior schools at Kirkby Stephen and Long Marton. £112.00 was taken by the scouts tea and cake stall. A note was made to try and publicise the race earlier and more effectively, collecting e mail addresses at registration of future events could be useful.
AOB; The Winton Trail Race is set to be organised by Steve Howarth as a fund raiser for the Mountain Rescue. A date is still to be sorted; Steve Moffat is planning the route.
John Hosker is proposing a competition, with a prize for the best photo posted on the website of HH vests in strange or extreme places.
SUBS; Angela reported that there a still a number of club members(23) who have not yet paid subs for this year. Everyone on this list has already been contacted and is being encouraged to pay!
DATE AND TIME NEXT MEETING; Monday8th July Fat Lamb Ravenstonedale at 8.00pm.
