2 / · CAREFULLY push the piece of steel wool into the bottom of a test tube
3 / · Measure 50mL of tap water and pour it into a 150mL beaker
· Tilt the beaker and lower the mouth of the test tube into the water in the beaker; move it around so the water goes up into the test tube as far as possible [this will NOT be easy]
· Rest the test tube on the bottom of the beaker making sure the test tube is perfectly upright ]
4 / · Use a dropper to add &/or remove water until the level of water in the beaker is the same as the level in the test tube
Use a Sharpie® to mark the water level on the outside of the beaker

· Allow set-up to sit for several days (document day)
