FIVE DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS TO CLOSE
SBA will continue help in two locations
RALEIGH, N.C. – Disaster Recovery Centers in Greene, Harnett, Johnston, Pitt and Sampson counties will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14.
“We extended the Saturday hours in Pitt and Sampson counties so we can be absolutely sure that folks
in those two counties have a chance to get help,” said Doug Hoell, the state’s Director of Emergency Management.
Those whose homes or businesses were affected by the April 16 storms and tornadoes can continue to get in-person help at all five centers from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The locations in Greene and Johnston counties will transition for one week to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers beginning Monday, May 16. The SBA centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, May 20.
The Greene and Johnston county SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers will provide in-person help to start and complete applications. SBA staff is also available to answer all questions, close loans, and offer help with reconsideration requests.

After the centers close, disaster survivors can still call 800-621-FEMA (3362) to register for disaster assistance, check application status and update contact or insurance company information. A Federal Emergency Management Agency representative is available at the toll-free number from 7 a.m. to
10 p.m. seven days a week. Callers with speech or hearing disabilities may call (TTY) 800-462-7585. Help is available in most languages.
Applicants can also register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or with a web-enabled mobile device smartphone. Visit m.fema.gov and follow the link to “apply online for federal assistance.”

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
