Lanchester Village Design Statement (will be worth a look as RTPI award winner 2005?)[‘ Lanchester is an attractive village in Derwentside, County Durham, which has experienced some additional housing development over the last 50 60 years. The Village Design Statement was drawn up by members of the local community for the community. Public agencies provided background advice, and it is a credit to all concerned that the final document has been approved by Derwentside District Council as Supplementary Planning Guidance. An interesting innovation is the inclusion of non-statutory Aspirations as well as the approved policies. The general background material also provides an interesting description and analysis of the character of the village, for locals and non-locals alike, and the
many photographs and drawings give the document extra public appeal’. / Not yet researched / Tbc
