West Hills College Lemoore Graduation Planned
West Hills College Lemoore’s graduation ceremony is slated for Thursday, May 27that 6:30 p.m. on the college campus at 555 College Ave.
This year the college will see its largest graduating class yet with more than 400 students earning associate degrees or certificates.
In addition, the Spirit of the Eagle award recipient Lynda Lahodny, executive director of the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce, will be recognized for her long time support of the college.
Lynda Lahodny – Spirit of the Eagle
The Spirit of the Eagle Award is WHCL’s highest award. West Hills College Lemoore President Don Warkentin announced that the award was given to Lynda Lahodny for her key role in the passage of Measure E, a local facilities bond for the college.
Measure E was passed in November 2008 and provided $31 million in construction funds for new buildings on campus. Coupled with the state construction dollars, the college will have over $100 million to build new classrooms, a performing arts center, field sports facilities, and an addition to the administration building.
Lahodny played a major role in the passage of this bond serving as the co-chair of the bond campaign committee, Warkentin said.
Lahodny now serves on the college’s bond oversight committee, which oversees the spending of the bond proceeds. She organized the business incubator workshops that were held on campus in support of local start up businesses and she has also served on college advisory committees including vocational programs.
She has also helped bring outside events to the campus including the, recent Pizza Festival.
The graduation ceremony for West Hills College Coalinga is Friday, May 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the Coalinga High School football stadium due to construction on the WHCC campus.
