The 21st Annual Golf Outing to benefit the Burn Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center will be held
Monday, October 4, 2010 at The Country Club at Muirfield Village, 8715 Muirfield Drive., Dublin, OH 43017.
The Society of Fire Protection Engineers – Central Ohio Chapter, The Ohio State University Medical Center’s Service Board and the OSUMC Burn Team, will again join together to make this year’s event the most successful yet.
Patients at the Burn Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center are cared for by a multidisciplinary team trained to care for patients with all types of burns. They see hundreds of patients every year, including fire fighters who are injured in the line of duty. With the help of doctors, nurses, social workers, pharmacist, chaplain, psychologist, and physical/occupational therapists, the team works to return every patient to their original lifestyle.
This annual golf outing raises money for the OSUMC Burn Development Fund.
There are many ways this Fund provides support and assistance to patients and families whose lives have been affected by the ravages of fire:
- Provides patients with dressing supplies for caring for their burns at home.
- Annual Burn Survivor Family Camp.
- Garments, wigs, food, clothing, housing for burn patients and families.
- Provides burn prevention educational information to the community, with the nurses and staff working specifically with the children and families at teen clinic, schools, and local fire stations. The staff has worked with OSU Student Affairs and the Columbus Division of Fire to educate the OSU students both on and off campus. This has included Smoke Outs for the Greek organizations, a Welcome Week for incoming OSU freshman and a Burn Prevention Display for OSU students in February.
- Development of a grease prevention campaign.
- Enhancing staff performance and patient rehabilitation through the use of speaker programs and specialized burn care conferences and educational opportunities.
- Provides funding for the SOAR (Survivor Offering Assistance in Recovery) Program.
We could not have done this without the continued support of this golf outing.
Your prize donations will be used in the Silent Auction or Raffle during the Event.
