Egypt's Foreign affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry and President Salva Kiir have met in Juba to discuss bilateral relations between the two Countries.
Speaking shortly after his arrival at Juba International Airport, Shoukry said Egypt is interested in supporting South Sudan to achieve stability and development.
Sameh Shoukry: “Egypt is interested in providing every assistance and developing the capacity of South Sudan to achieve the aspirations of its people and all of the areas of economic development as well as our interest in the stability, security, territorial integrity of South Sudan so as to provide all resources possible for South Sudanese people’s aspirations for economic development.”
Meanwhile South Sudan Foreign affairs Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the visit by Egypt’s Foreign affairs minister would strengthen cooperation between the two the countries.
Marial Benjamin: “This visit is to strengthen and to proceed in the areas we have cooperated in and as you know president Kiir and AbdalFatah Al Sisi are working together and in solidarity so that south Sudan should peace can move forward in development. This signify strong bilateral relationship between South Sudan and Egypt”
The UN mission in South Sudan is calling for unrestricted movement of aid workers in the country.
The latest call comes amid concerns that aid workers at the UN base in Bentiu have been prevented from leaving the location.
This restriction has made it difficult to provide humanitarian assistance people affected by the conflict.
Joe Contreras, the acting spokesperson of the UN mission in South Sudan, says the UN is urging the fighting forces to provide aid workers freedom of movement.
Joe Contreras: “Aid workers based at our compound outside of Bentiu have been prevented from leaving that location to provide services to civilians affected and displaced by the conflict and the top humanitarian coordinator Toby Lanzer issued a statement noting the inability to move freely outside the compound and we urge forces belonging to both warring parties in the conflict to give freedom of movement to those aid workers as stipulated in the SOFA that south Sudan signed in 2011.”
In a related development, the SPLA spokesperson Col. Philip Aguer, says the movement of aid workers in areas under SPLA control has not beenrestricted.
He has advised the aid workers in Bentiu to coordinate with Maj. Gen. Majir Deng Kur, a member of the SPLA monitoring mechanism, to facilitate their movements
Col. Philip Aguer: “In any areaunder controlof government forces, peacekeepers and humanitarian workers are allowed to move freely. If there is difficulties in movement in areas control by SPLA, we are ready to look into this issue and easy movement of aid workers. We have members of monitoring mechanism called Maj. Gen. Majir Deng Kur. He has full authority to open the roads if there was a road closed.”
An attack on a cattle camp in Mundri West County, Western Equatoria state has left five people dead.
The Commissioner Mundri West County, Hassan Bakhit, says the attack on Tuesday Morning sparked off heavy gunfire forcing many people to flee their homes.
Hassan Bakhit: “A group of cattle keepers were attacked by unknown people in the cattle camp, the shooting started at around 05pm up to 07pm then we mobilized the forces, what happened was that five people were killed, one is a soldier and four are civilians from the same camp, it was about seven miles just the place between Kotobi and Bari.”

Anisa Company, a local organization, has delivered a consignment of food and non-food items to orphans in in Tambura County, Western Equatoria state.
Sister Bianca Bii of the Roman Catholic Church says she is overwhelmed by the donation. She says this is a quick relief to the more than 60 orphans that are being hosted at the orphanage in Tambura.
Sister Bianca: “It is a big, big, big surprise for me to see the amount of food he has provided for the children. The flour of maize, cassava, the beans, the milk, the oil, the washing soap and salt, sugar for the children. We are so happy.”
Speaking to Radio Miraya,FaridaJoanna Albino,one of the orphans said the orphanage center helped her when she was most in need.
Miss Faida: “When I was in P5 I was thinking who will help me I don’t have father, I even don’t have mother and I have nobody to take care of me but the day that I went to her she said my daughter don’t worry. She took me when I was eleven years old to take care of me and she said she will not forget me in her life, I also need to study and also come and help the orphans like how she is helping me.”
And in international news, a new report published by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) says Conflict and violence around the world have displaced a record 38 million people inside their own countries.
Nearly a third were displaced last year alone, with an average 30,000 people fleeing their homes a day. The figures were described as the worst in a generation.
South Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria had the most newly displaced people.
Jan England, the NRC's secretary general, said the figures should act as a wake-up call to global political leaders.
In Sports, South Sudan football association has confirmed that South Sudan national team will playagainst Ghana’s Black Star reserve team.
Deputy secretary General of South Sudan football association Seanslaus Luwala told radio Miraya that preparations underway and but no date has been fixed for the match.
Seanslaus Luwala: “Yeah Am not certain, I cannot confirmed that we are playing next week or the other week but we shall let the football lovers known when we have already agreed on the date and the place. Yeah definitely we are preparing our National team for the upcoming African cup of nation’s qualifier. We are still doing some administrative work and soon people will see our team in place and they will be able to play our first game against Mali.”
Media reports had earlier indicated that South Sudan would play Black star team from Ghana on Friday at Juba Stadium.
