Description:

/ This one-day course addresses “urban” work zones, particularly the enhancements and considerations (“substantive safety”) necessary to address work zones in urban environments. These environments may involve restricted spaces, lack of space for buffer spaces, parking issues, limited sight distance, business access and pedestrians and bicyclist considerations, etc. The course will address instances when standards cannot be met and how to address these situations.

Learning Objectives

/ Participants will gain knowledge, strategies, and best practices, to better adapt temporary traffic control plans for urban roadways.

Audience:

/ MnDOT, City, County, Contractor, and Consultant Personnel responsible for work zone design and traffic control supervision who may work in urban environments.

/ Each participant will receive a course manual.

Class Fee:

/ $25 per participant. Fee includes class materials.

/ Hotel arrangements must be booked on your own.

/ MNDOT EMPLOYEES:
1. Obtain supervisory approval before registration.
2. Register through your Employee Development Specialist (EDS)/Training Representative.
Registrations will be closed on 03/1/13.

Cancellation Procedures:

/ All cancellations must be made by 7 calendar days prior to the class starting date. Substitutions allowed (late cancellations and no shows will be charged). All cancellations must be through the EDS.

Compensatory Time:

/ Employees who are subject to overtime should note that all non-assigned training is voluntary and that the total state time is not to exceed the regular scheduled work day.
