Designs:

Jacobean Journey embroidery designs. Instructions will be sent monthly and designs loaded each month in class.

Fabrics – Threads:

Refer to the Jacobean Journey Fabric and Thread Key for fabric, thread and Battilizer information. Yardage requirements will depend on desired block and quilt size as well as optional border. 4 threads are used. Recommended: Thread A contrast Fabric 1, Thread B match Fabric 2, Thread C match Fabric 3, Thread D match Fabric 4.

Supplies for block construction:

  • Machine, embroidery module, appropriate hoop for desired block size
  • USB stick for transferring and loading designs each month
  • 2 inch 3-ring binder, page protectors, 10-12 tab dividers, highlighter, tape.
  • Water soluble thread 3+ spools
  • Neutral sewing thread
  • Bobbin thread
  • Scissors / Quick Kuts – for close trimming of fabrics
  • Rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler (6x12 recommended)
  • Temporary Spray Adhesive
  • Embroidery needles of choice (75 gold is what I use)
  • Border CD for optional border (month 10)

Supplies for trimming and joining blocks and sashing (starting month 7):

  • Trimmer by George 2.0
  • 60mm Rotary Cutter
  • Wonder Tape
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine needles
  • ¾” bias binder maker
  • #13 or #53 Straight Stitch Foot(The #13 has been discontinued. You may use the #13 if you already own the foot. Otherwise you’ll need to purchase the #53 straight stitch foot with non-stick sole.)

Helpful, but not required:

  • Fine pointed tweezers
  • Hoop Grip
  • Wooden seam presser
  • Glue stick
  • Flower head pins
  • #13 or #53 Straight Stitch Foot (The #13 has been discontinued. You may use the #13 if you already own the foot. Otherwise you’ll need to purchase the #53 straight stitch foot with non-stick sole.)

Before 1st class:

  • Prewash and starch fabric if desire

At the end of the Jacobean Journey Program participants will receive a CD with all design formats, block sizes, plus bonus projects “Faux” Whole Cloth Quilt, placemats, Table and Bed Runner options.
