Started Work in High School, Was Promoted to Associate Manager in the Summer of 2003

Objective

My objective is to assemble a small group of fellow agriculture classmates to form a landscape based entrepenural company.

Experience

Associate Manager, Early May Nursery and Garden Center Des Moines, Iowa 2001-2003

•Started work in high school, was promoted to Associate Manager in the summer of 2003

•Primary responsibilities were to care for all of the nursery stock, manage install crews and sales of plant material and fertilizer

•Secondary responsibilities were updating daily financial books, ordering plant and garden center products, closing the store three nights a week, and general maintenance of equipment

•I left Earl May to learn construction techniques and pursue a college degree at a local community college.

Crew Leader, Capital Landscape Des Moines, Iowa 2003-2004

•Lead a plant maintenance crew in the spring and hardscape crew in the summer and fall

•Built natural landscapes consisting of boulder walls, flagstone patios, water features, lighting elements and plant material

•Drove a plow truck in the winter, and continued to clear snow with Capital until the 2009

Crew Leader, Biondi Pro Landscape Ankeny, Iowa 2004-2006

•Started as a crew member and learned proper construction techniques for segmented retaining walls and brick paver patios

•I later ran a small crew installing plant material

•I left Biondi to attend Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa

Co-Owner Lawn Jockeys Des Moines, Iowa 2005

•Wile working for Biondi’s, a friend and I started a small mowing service that operated on the weekends

•We had two 48 inch mowers, string trimmers and leaf blowers

•We had a small client base mostly of family friends, enough work to keep us busy on Saturday and Sunday

•We sold our equipment and clients to Biondi when I move to Ames.

Crew Leader, Risco Landscape Ames, Iowa 2007-2008

•While attending Iowa State University I worked at Risco, leading the Retaining Wall Crew

•Also assisted with irrigation service and installation and patio construction

•In the spring I prepared bare root trees and shrubs for the nursery

Intern, The Brickman Group Chicago, Illinois 2008

•Worked closely with Chris Kuc in scheduling jobs, sourcing materials from suppliers, communicating with clients, and other office related landscape matters

•I also assisted with Brickman’s residential maintenance, design studio, commercial construction, and spent some time working with the grounds crew at the Lincoln Park Zoo

• In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, mountain biking, swimming and playing guitar
