Adult Education
The DeKalbTechnicalCollege adult education program is one of thelargest adult and international literacy programs in the state. Programsand services offered include adult basic reduction (ABE), GEDpreparation and testing, English literacy programs (ELP), andcitizenship education (EL/Civics) and are offered at 18 convenientlocations throughout the four-county service area.
DeKalbTechnicalCollege is a unit of the Technical College System ofGeorgia, a unified system of technical education, custom business andindustry training and adult education. Our programs use the bestavailable technology and offer easy access to lifelong learning for allGeorgians. This system is part of a seamless education process forGeorgia in which students can transfer credits efficiently as theyadvance from secondary schools to technical colleges and to the collegesand universities within the University System of Georgia.
Mission
DeKalbTechnicalCollege is committed to promoting and improvingliteracy skills by providing literacy and English language servicesresponsive to the citizens of the community and by preparing citizens toaccess higher education and employment opportunities in a progressiveworkplace. This will be accomplished by providing basic, intermediateand advanced level instruction in literacy and English languageeducation specific to the needs of the target population. This missionis pursued without discrimination on the basis of age, race, color,religion, sex, national origin, academic or economic disadvantage ordisability.
Vision
Our vision is of a comprehensive system of adult literacy and English literacy instruction which changes lives and enhances parentalinvolvement and job readiness in adults living in a society of rapidlychanging demographic, economic, and technological trends.
