The Human Resource Manager will provide the day to day direction for the corporate office in Erie, MI. This individual will provide support in functional areas of Human Resources including but not limited to recruitment and employment, personnel records, employee and/or labor relations, job evaluation, compensation management, benefits administration, organization development, workers compensation, safety, training, AAP/EEO and special projects.
Assists in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications and/or meetings. Prepares reports in conformance with legislated and legal requirements or company needs
Directly supervises Human Resource Department employees. Provides supervision and guidance and direction in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; training department employees; conducting performance appraisals and related salary adjustments.
· Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
· Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
· Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
· Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
· Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
· Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
· Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Bachelor’s with an emphasis in Human Resources from four-year College or university required, and 8-10 year’s related experience and/or training in Human Resource management. Experience supporting multiple locations a plus. PHR/SPHR certification required.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects. Must possess excellent personal computer skills and having working knowledge of Microsoft Office products software i.e.; Word. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and HRIS systems. Must have Internet experience.
