Course Description:Processes and procedures for developing skills in floral design as well as hands on activities to enhance the classroom learning objectives. This course is designed to develop students' ability to identify and demonstrate the principles and techniques related to floral design as well as develop an understanding of the management of floral enterprises.

Materials:

2 Inch, 3 ring binder with pockets

1 box of tissues

1 Spiral Notebook

Pen or pencil

Classroom Rules and Expectations:

  1. All students will come to class prepared and on time.
  2. The teacher will dismiss the class, not the bell. No lining up at the door before bell rings. Mrs. Webb’s BIGGEST pet peeve.
  3. Students will not sleep in class.
  4. Profanity will not be tolerated.
  5. Be respectful of everyone; peers, teachers, guest speakers.
  6. Be engaged in the lesson and activities.

Tutorials:

Must be scheduled by appointment with Mrs. Webb

Homework Policy:

Most assignments or projects given in class, students will have class time to complete. If a student does not complete the work then it becomes homework and will be due the following class day. All work turned in late will be subjected to the district policy on late work.

BYOD Policy:

Devices may be used in class this year, but will be at the discretion of the teacher. Any use of the devices without permission will result in them being taken up and turned into the office. All devices that will be accessing the internet MUST be connected to the Alvin I.S.D. Wi-Fi service. Anyone not in compliance could result in their device privileges being revoked – as per the student handbook.

Late Work Policy:

The assignment is considered late if it is not turned in at the time it is due. All late work will receive a grade penalty. The following table reflects the maximum percentage of the possible grade the student is to receive for late assignments, at the high school level.

One day late………………………..80%

Two days late……………………...70%

Three days or more………………..no credit

Grading Policy:

Per the new district guidelines grades will be given at set percentages by the district.

Daily work- 40%

Major- 60%

Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE):

According to Texas law, every student enrolled in an agriculture science class must have an SAE. An SAE Agreement must be signed at the beginning of the year by the student, parent(s), and teacher. Students will be required to maintain a record book for their SAE and will receive a grade for completeness and accuracy at the end of each grading period.

Participation in FFA:

Students are encouraged to participate in the Alvin FFA Chapter. Membership in the National FFA Organization enhances a student’s learning experience in the classroom by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through leadership and career development events. FFA dues are $25 and allow students to participate in contests, conferences, and chapter functions throughout the year.
