You are invited to participate in the John Pirelli Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in America BOCCE CLASSIC XX presented by Bob Ross Fiat, which will be held on July 18-20, 2014 weekend.
The BOCCE CLASSIC XX will be a held under the format where each team will play round robin games for qualification into a 32 team tournament to be held on Sunday. Games will be 35 minutes in length with 5 minutes between games. Entry fees will be $250.00 per team. Pre-sell dinner tickets for Friday’s Outback Steakhouse dinner and Saturday’s Spaghetti Dinner are available. Proceeds benefit The Bocce Classic Scholarship, The Kettering Relay for Life, and The OSIA Grand Lodge Foundation along with the activities of the Cultural and Heritage Commission at the John Pirelli Lodge which include educational scholarships, charitable contributions to Cooley’s anemia, Alzheimer Association, and many other worthy organizations.
Pre-sale food tickets for meatball/sausage sandwiches, pizza, and Budweiser draught beer are available through June 30, 2014. These items can be ordered on the entry form. The 2nd annual Kettering Classic Car Show will be held on Saturday July 19th. A Fiat 500L is being raffled with the proceeds benefiting the Ohio Grand Lodge Foundation and the Dayton Foundation (John Pirelli Fund). Only 1000 tickets are available and the tax deductible donation is only $50.
John Pirelli’s bocce courts will be available for all teams to practice from 6:00pm through 10:00pm, beginning on Monday evening, July 14, 2014 through Thursday evening, July 17, 2013. For out of area teams, a Friday practice from noon to 4pm will be made available. Teams must sign up for courts with the tournament staff in advance. These procedures will be explained in your tournament package. Tournament play will commence at 7:00pm on Friday, July 18, 2013. Opening ceremonies will commence at 6:40pm with a skills competition beginning at 6:00pm for cash prizes.
This year’s payout out is guaranteed with a 64 team field at $10,000 with a first place prize of $2,500. The top 16 teams that place will payout. Payout for a field of 63 or less teams will be revealed at the tournament. Due to the commitment of prize money, no outside food or beverage will be allowed on the premises. Prior consent for special needs can be obtained; however any and all prize money is subject to forfeiture for any team that violates this policy.
We have enclosed a registration form for your team entry. Registration forms and other detailed information are also available online at www.bocceclassic.com. In the near future you will receive information about other activities that are planned for the BOCCE CLASSIC XX weekend. Please, no outside food or drink on the grounds. If you have a special request, please ask. Prize money will be based on the number of teams entered and payouts for the skills competition, round robin pool winners and the top positions in the tournament will be paid.
