Nursery Newsletter for Semester 2

January 2013

Welcome back to all our children and parent’s we hope you had a restful holiday.

Changes In Childcare Requirements

During Semester 2 you may have had some changes to your childcare requirements and changes to timetable. Could you please complete and return the attached timetable. It is vitalthat we have this information with room details and lecture times in case we ever need to contact you in an emergency.

Bad Weather Policy

The Health and Safety of children, parents and staff is paramount, therefore in the event of very bad weather (heavy snow, gales, floods etc), parents are advised to ring the Nursery prior to leaving for the journey. Every effort will be made to ensure the nursery is open, however if we are not able to open at all, the Nursery Manager or Deputy will contact you as soon as we can so you don’t make an unnecessary journey. Usually when bad weather occurs during the day, we will endeavour to ensure that children stay at nursery until their usual home time if possible. However it may be necessary to close the nursery if the weather does deteriorate during the day. In these circumstances, the Nursery Manager or Deputy will, in the first instance, endeavour to contact parents/carers to collect their child. If this is not possible, the named alternative person from the child’s registration form will be contacted to collect the child.

Melody Bear (Poppy and Sunflower Rooms 2-5yrs)

Melody Bear Dance classes will begin on 30th January for 12 weeks. If you wish your child to take part, please return the slip from the letter you received by Friday 25th January. Sharon Fowler is a qualified dance instructor who has previously led dance classes at Little Scholars. The children and their teddy bears have always had a fantastic time and all enjoy taking part.

Children leaving for School

If your child will be leaving the nursery this year to start school in September, you should have already submitted your choice of schools to the Local Authority. The nursery would like to make the transition to school life as smooth as possible for the children and would like to make contact with their schools. Please inform Donna or Sue of the school you have chosen.

Signing In and Out

Please ensure you sign your child in and out of the nursery each daythey attend in the correct book, this is an official record of attendance.

Policies and Procedure Manual

Our policy and procedure manual has been updated and is available for parents to look at any time. It is situated on the table next to the 2-3 signing in register in the main room.

Children’s Profiles

Your child’s profile is updated on a regular basis so please feel free to view them at any time and add any comments.

Parent Volunteers

If any parents have interests or talents they would like to share with the children, please feel free to come in and demonstrate them to the children. This would be especially informative as the Sunflower group this term are looking at the different countries of origin of the class.
