JOB SHADOWING REQUIREMENTS
Dear Students and Parents/Legal Guardians:
Seckman Senior High Guidance Department is interested in assisting our students in their exploration of career choices as part of our guidance curriculum. Career exploration helps students identify vocational choices, become more familiar with a range of occupations within the six career paths, experience different work environments and identify the skills necessary to do specific jobs. For these reasons we have developed a Job Shadowing program for the students to participate in. Your child has expressed an interest in the Job Shadowing program and has met the requirement to participate thus far. Other information and requirements of the program are:
-Students are to locate a career that appeals to them and get permission to follow an employee in that career field for one day.
-The requirements to participate in the program include:
-The students having their own transportation to the site
-No F’s on their first semester report card
-No suspensions this school year
-Have missed fewer than FIVE days this school year. Good overall attendance (no excessive tardies, etc)
-Have the Permission Form turned in on time with the necessary signatures
-Each student must complete and return the permission slip filled out by the parents and the person they are to job shadow.
This form is due by March 13, 2018.
-Each student must return the completed evaluation of the experience, signed and dated by the person they job shadow and return it to the guidance office no later than March 27, 2018.
-The students absence from school will be counted as “excused” only if the evaluation form of the experience is turned in verifying proof of the visit (due no later than March 27, 2018).
-Student’s school day will be the employee’s workday (ex. Employee’s work day is 9-5, student will not need to come to school prior to job shadowing since they will count the work day as their school time).
-The students must dress and act in a manner to reflect school pride.
It is our goal that this program will offer the students a chance to experience the world of work by “shadowing” a career which interests them. After the permission form has been completed and turned in, we will notify your child if he/she has met all the requirements and been approved. Please be sure to discuss with your child the details of this program so that it can be a successful experience for them. If you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you,

PERMISSION FORM
The information at the bottom of this
letter is due to the Guidance
office prior to job Shadowing.
THIS FORM IS DUE MARCH 13, 2018.
Dear Business Leaders:
The Seckman Senior High Guidance Department is interested in assisting our students to explore career choices as part of our guidance curriculum. This comprehensive program involves students learning more about their interests, abilities, and possible career choices. For this reason, we have developed a Job Shadowing program. For this program to be successful, it is very important to get the input and support of the leaders in the business community. Our plan is to allow a student to job shadow you or one of your employees for ONE day during the week of March 19-23, 2018. These students would have no other function than observing and asking questions about what the job duties and responsibilities entail. Students are responsible for transportation to and from the job site. If your business is willing to sponsor a student, please fill out the information below and have the student return it to the Guidance Office at Seckman Senior High. I appreciate your cooperation and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely,
Nicole Stoffey
