You can use word document to fill in your grant application. The part to fill in follows the instructions
You will find that each field (space) on the form will prompt you with the information you use and, in some cases, offer appropriate choices.
This form is designed to filled in on your own computer and sent back to us by e-mail. It is not an “online” form.
[We have chosen not to do this from online as it probably will need several edits for most applications while you gather information and it is very frustrating when you are working online when the internet connection fails or the form hangs up.]
STEP 1 – Don’t lose your work
Save this file locally (i.e. on your computer or in your preferred private cloud location like Dropbox, OneDrive, or google drive)
If you aren’t sure about this the Desktop is an easy place to put it.
To do this use File Save As from the File menu in Word – this will make your own copy of the file. We suggest that you add your organisations name to the file name – it will help the town hall staff.
Once you have made your own copy, you can use File Save, Ctrl-S or the Save icon (if you have one) to save as usual (File Save As is only used the 1st time to make another copy)
Step 2 Complete the Form as much as you can
You should find that you can only edit the data entry parts of the form – this is intentional; if you can’t get a cursor there, we don’t want you to change it.
Entering Data
You should find your TAB key (the long key to left of the letter Q) will move from one box to the next [this works on the web usually as well – if you didn’t know that]. This makes filling in forms particularly easy. Note that there are few boxes which allow multiple lines of text – in these TAB won’t work – just move to the next box.
Most fields allow you type text. In some you can press Enter to make more lines (most expect just one line)
For check boxes like E-mail ☐just click the box or press the space key to set or clear. Some items will show an arrow on the right – click on it and a list will appear from which you can choose an answer e.g. organisation type

To avoid the Town Council making inappropriate grants of public funds it is a requirement that the following documents MUST accompany your application.
- A copy of your organisation’s CONSTITUTION (if any)
- Copies of your organisation’s recent financial records. For larger organisations, this would include audited or independently examined accounts and balance sheet, together with up to date STATEMENTS of all current and investment account balances held by the group if the accounts are for a period ending more than six months prior to the application date. (Independent checks can be carried out by anyone not associated with your organisation. The accounts then need to be signed and dated by that person).
- In the case of a newly formed organisation, a BUDGET and BUSINESS PLAN must be submitted.
