Learning Plan 3 Performance Assessment 1
New Software Project B: CMS Content Management System
Front End Login and Editing Project
Competencies:
Evaluate New Web Software
Directions to Learners:
Scenario:
You have a client who owns a small business. The client wants to have a web site created to market their small business. The client wants to be able to update the content of the web site as information for their business changes on a frequent basis and they want to be able to update daily if needed. The client does not know anything about web site design and development coding or software and does not want to spend a lot of time learning about it. You are sure that you do not want to allow this client to access main global elements and/or styling of the site as it is clear due to lack of knowledge and skills that this client could easily break the entire site and do it often. You decide to go with a CMS approach however you do not want to allow backend login to the client as it is more than the client wants to learn about. You decide to leverage the power of the CMS and enable front end login and editing of content only.
Outcome:
You are to create demo of a small business web site with Joomla and enable front end login and editing of site content for the client.
Expectations:
1. Draft a project scope document using the scenario above as well as the criteria from the Scoring Guide below. You will pick a fictitious client to use and describe that client’s fictitious business in your Project Scope Document. The document should address the following components.
a. Project Description
b. Project Scope Objectives
c. Project Schedule
d. Project Budget
e. Project Deliverables
f. Project Assumptions and Details
Creating this type of document for this type of project can give you a template to follow for future projects of this scope.
2. You will be installing a new instance of the CMS - Joomla on your GoDaddy account for use for this project.
3. You will enable the Login Form Extension Module
4. You will create a new user profile for the client and set the user detail to an appropriate level for editing.
Testing for functionality at this point is recommended.
5. You will customize a Joomla template by altering the color scheme and images used in the template’s design. You will make this work for the client project you have chosen to focus on. You will then use the customized template design to implement a small web site that has fictitious information suitable for/to your client’s business.
6. Decide, research and implement any other customizations needed for your client’s project.
Project Criteria documentation along with the Project Scope Document will be provided on a web page/s that should become part of your EWTT Showcase Final Project Web Site. Your submission to the drop box basket will be the URL to this documentation page!
Not Expected:
· To create an original Joomla design template from scratch

This was very nerve wrecking! I tried and tried to upload new templates but every time I did it would work fine then, all of a sudden when I logged in or tried my user I wasn’t able to edit any articles. I finally decided to use the Beez2 one and make my own changes to it. Overall I recreated this site about 15 times! / 5 4 2 0

I used the beez2 that was supplied with Joomla. I went ahead and changed the logo to a custom one that I created in Photoshop. I also set the template to the nature one. I also went ahead and commented out the font size showing in the html code. / 10 8 6 0
