Save document – States of Matter

View à Header and Footer.

Key the title in the Header.

Key your name in the footer.

Save.

May not have to do this every period:

Open the drawing bar: Tools –> Customize/ check the Drawing and the Picture toolbars.

Tools à Options: View – uncheck start up pane and General – uncheck auto create drawing canvas

File to Page setup – click Landscape and OK

Click on Toolbar Options (teacher will show) and set page size to 75%.

Draw a square about 2’ X 2’

Click to have handles – COPY and PASTE to make 3 rectangles

Align: Click one, hold the shift key while you click the other 2 – This connects them.

Click Draw (bottom left of desktop) and choose Align or Distribute/Align Top.

Labels for each example:

  1. Create a text box for each of the sample.
  2. Place under the drawing and set text to Size 36.

Create Molecules: Hold shift key while you draw a small circle to create one molecule.

Fill with your favorite color.

  1. Copy and paste 12-20 circles into the first square.
  2. Copy and paste several into the middle square.
  3. Do the same for the third square.

Arrange the Molecules:

For SOLIDS: In the first square, align circles so they are touching. You may click to

show the handles then move using the ARROW keys on the keyboard.

For LIQUIDS: For these molecules space them randomly inside the square.

For GASES: For this example, arrange randomly and add arrows.

For the arrows, click on the arrow in the drawing toolbar, and draw in different directions from each molecule to show movement of the molecules.

Print one copy.
