Proposed Instruction Programs

This is where you explain in detail the programs you expect to bring to the facility if you are teaching there.

This section should include a breakdown of each of the instruction programs you will provide while noting any advantages that each program will create in driving new traffic or creating more member/customer engagement as a result of each program that may not currently exist at the facility. This section should also include any new teaching technologies that you will be providing to the facility such as launch monitors, putting computers, Internet lesson lockers, etc.

Program categories may include some or all of the following:

  • Private lessons
  • Golf school programs
  • Playing lessons
  • Player development programs such as Get Golf Ready
  • Clinics (general and/or specialized such as AimPoint greenreading clinics)
  • Family instruction to engage non-playing spouses and children
  • Long-term coaching programs
  • Supervised practice sessions
  • Junior programs for at least three distinct levels: beginner, intermediate and competitive
  • Junior summer camps
  • Clubfitting

  • Programs that address specific issues the facility is having in attracting new customers or retaining members.
  • Programs or enhancements such as new practice facilities or a teaching building that are part of the agreement that will increase usage and/or extend the teaching season and how you will maximize their usage.
  • Current local/regional name recognition for your teaching brand that will benefit the new facility

Marketing Plan

Areas of Focus

The marketing plan should include specific ideas that you will be able to execute in a variety of areas to attract new business to the facility. Break down the key constituencies and then explain your key ideas for attracting them to your lesson tee.

These areasshould be prioritized and may include sample marketing ideas for any or all of the following as appropriate for the facility’s needs:

  • Engaging non-playing spouses and children to increase member retention
  • Player development programs to fill the pipeline with new golfers
  • Increased club sales through expanded clubfitting programs
  • Increasing the length of the lesson-taking season with indoor programs that include fitness
  • Special event programming such as a guest instructor golf school
  • Social/Instruction events on the practice tee

General Promotion

This section should include any general marketing abilities you or your instruction company already have in place that would be effective at the new facility. A few examples of what these may include would be:

  • Your current database of clients and potential clients
  • Professionally produced brochures.
  • Local, regional or national media you may appear in due to your industry status and media relationships.
  • Your ability to visit and network at local school fun nights, business functions and other community events to promote the Learning Center.
  • Your website
  • Your YouTube channel
  • A golf instruction blog you write

Suggested Pricing Structure

The following pricing structure strives to reflect the level of service customers will receive while staying competitively priced with other top instructors in the region. A review of similar nearby golf facilities has found that they offer lessons at rates between $TK - $TK per hour.

Name of teacher will offer instruction to the general public, however club members will receive a discount on all services offered. Below is a sample of our suggested pricing.

Adult – One-hour private lesson: $TK non-member, $TK member

Adult Group – 2-4 students: $TK each per hour

Junior Group – 2-4 students: $TK each per hour

Pro Forma(if requested)

At the proposal stage you may or may not need to present a proforma statement of expected revenues that you expect to generate for the club/facility. If a proforma is part of the proposal, you should estimate projections for the first three years. It is common practice to expect annual increases year over year of 10% or more for the first three to five years when budgeting the pro forma.

The pro forma should include all direct revenue sharing between your instruction programs and the facility along with incremental revenues that will likely result from the instruction programs. These may include any or all of the following categories:

  • Private lessons
  • Group instruction
  • Clubfitting fees
  • Junior golf programs/camps
  • F&B purchased by students
  • Range balls purchased by students
  • Range memberships
  • Green fees driven by instruction
  • Cart fees driven by instruction
  • Facility membership initiation fees driven by instruction
  • Facility membership dues driven by instruction
  • Corporate outings
  • Student lodging (on site hotel)
  • Equipment sales to students

  • Champions taught at various competitive levels

Teaching Philosophy and Approach

This is the section where you explain the major influences behind your general instruction philosophy about how the golf swing functions. Include any key mentors who trained you extensively and any teaching-related certifications you have attained. It should include the general blueprint that you use while giving a lesson or coaching.

It should also include some information about your knowledge of motor skill learning and how your programs are designed to address accepted training techniques that enhance motor learning. It should also explain how you communicate with students before, during and after the lesson. Try to keep this section to no more than one page in length.

Facility Enhancements

This is the section where you would include any agreed upon upgrades or changes to the teaching facilities and practice areas at the facility as part of the agreement to bring your business to the facility. Include as much detail as possible as to what you will provide such as a launch monitor, etc. and what the facility will provide i.e. a new teaching building, etc.

Try to keep this section to no more than one page in length unless including architectural drawings or other visual attachments. If no arrangements have been discussed you can delete this section.
