Final Narrative Writing Assignment
Due: Monday, November 4, 2013
Your final narrative should be based on the following requirements listed below:
*Place a check mark as you complete a requirement for your rough draft and write your initials as you and someone else make sure for your final draft.
- It should be 700 to 1000 words (with multiple paragraphs). Write how manywords you produced at the end of your story. ______
- Printed out (double-spaced, Font: 12, Times New Roman) or black/blue ink ______
- Your narrative should be autobiographical (It really happened to you. Remember my shopping cart story?) and tell me something about who you are. ______
- A creative title ______
- Has Freytag’s plot elements (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) ______
- There should be a conflict that needs to be dealt with or resolved. ______
- It should have two or more major characters with characterization. ______
- Readers are able to “see”/imagery—doesn’tjust tell us, show us--the major characters, focus object, important settings, and crucial actions. ______
- Use of at least one (or more) simile sentence and one (or more) metaphor sentence in the narrative. ______
- There should be important dialogue between characters. ______
- The story should have some emotion/tone in it at least one scene (ex: funny, joyful, sad, regretful, etc.) ______
- It should have an important theme for you and other students. (Ex: THEME – Friendship comes ahead of winningora relative can always live on in our memories.). ______
- Correct grammar (no run-on sentences, no capitalization errors, proper punctuation, etc.) and spelling. ______
- One illustration or picture that fits an important scene or aspect of your narrative. The image should be placed within the story—not at the end of it. ______
Please ask an adult to help you edit your rough draft for ideas, correct spelling and grammar, and feedback. You will turn this paper in, along with your final draft, rough draft, and brainstorm. Signing this paper acknowledges that your final product is your best effort.
