COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to accounting for small businesses at the college level.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completing the course students will be able to:
1. Design and prepare records.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of an accounting cycle by completing appropriate activities.
3. Manage and reconcile bank accounts for cash control.

Publishing. (ISBN# 978-0-07-339694-1). Students may purchase used books or E-books but may need
to buy an access code for the Homework Manager software in order to complete the homework.
ACCOUNTING TUTORIAL LABS
There may be times when you can’t complete assignments during class time or you may need help
outside of class. All ACCT 100 students may attend the labs free of charge. You will receive additional
informationduring the second week of class.

HOMEWORK
Homework assignments will be completed on line using Homework Manager and are listed on the accompanying Assignment Schedule and are due by the start of class on the dates indicated.
LECTURE NOTES
Lecture notes for each chapter are available in Powerpoint on my website. I encourage you to review these notes in prior to each class.
HOW TO BUY AN ACCESS CODE
If you purchased a new textbook, it will have an access code included and you may ignore the following instructions. If you purchased a used text, please use the following instructions to purchase an access code.

- Click on “I do not have a registration code”
- Choose the “McGraw-Hill’s Homework Manager for College Accounting” by clicking the “Continue” button underneath the $40.00 price or Homework manager Plus for $47.50
( comes with online version of the text)
- Follow on-screen instructions.
HOW TO ACCESS HOMEWORK MANAGER TO COMPLETE HOMEWORK
Homework assignments are listed in the “Assignments Schedule”. These assignments must be completed using Homework Manager. Demonstrations on using Homework Manager will be done during the first week of class. To access Homework Manager:
- The URL is an Assignment Name
- Enter your Login and Password (password and login is case-sensitive)
- Choose either “Print assignment for off-line work” or “Work assignment on-line right now.” (Note: If you print the assignment for off-line work, you will still need to enter your answers to the problems online.)
- When working on-line, each problem/exercise will be given one at a time
- Fill in the answer in the box provided
- At the top of the page, click “Next” to go to the next problem
- When all problems are completed, click “Grade.” (Note: Incomplete assignments can be saved and worked on later by clicking “Save my work” or “Quit and save.”)
- Each assignment has unlimited attempts and only the best score is recorded.
ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to regularly attend classes and arrive before the start of class.. If a student misses
a class, it is the student's responsibility to determine what he/she missed. If a student has
4 unexcused absences or is excessively tardy they will be dropped.
WITHDRAWLS
Students are requested to consult with the instructor before dropping the class. Should a student decide
to drop, it is the student's responsibility to process the appropriate paper work.
The last day to drop with a "W" is April 30, 2011
