The Adolescent Girls Initiative Program (AGI-K), funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), provides a unique and exciting opportunity to reach at least 3000 adolescent girls ages 11-14 in Kibera, urban Informal settlement in Nairobi, through a research project with a range of interventions in the health, prevention of violence, wealth creation, and education sectors. The goal is that the evidence generated through AGI-K will be used at county and national levels to influence policies, programs and budgets.
The purpose of this position is to process the corporate financial system for the AGI-K Project, ensure compliance & adherence to financial internal control systems, and to provide Financial support to the Project manager, non-financial staff and Project partners.

Dimensions of Role:

The post holder will report to the Senior Accountant and the AGI-K Project Manager. The position does not supervise but provides financial advisory services to the AGI-K Project team and other positions.

Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position:

Key Responsibilities:

·  To review all AGI-K project financial commitments and payments to ensure compliance and budget availability within approved procedures.

·  Process all approved invoices in to the SAP system to record a liability for received goods and services in preparation for payments.

·  Process payments in SAP and make suppliers payments by cheques/online and assign cheques in the SAP system while observing segregation of duties

·  To reconcile cash in the bank with the SAP Bank and clearing account, payroll, receivables and payables balance sheet accounts at least on a monthly basis.

·  Create internal order to facilitate the creation of LPO for partner advances and liquidations and support in their capacity building on financial matters as relates to the project.

·  Work closely with the Project Manager to Prepare AGI-K monthly financial and Grants monitoring reports timeously

·  To perform annual physical verification of assets of AGI-K ensuring all assets are accurately recorded.

·  Manage vendors account, follow up on outstanding advances and compile and submit reports to the Country Office.

·  Maintain and manage all AGI-K financial documents to safeguard financial records and audit trails.

The position maintains good working relationships both internally and externally.

Internally:

Works closely with Project Manager, Senior Accountant, Procurement, Project staff and other teams at the Kenya Country Office (KCO).

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

Educational Qualification, Knowledge and Experience:

·  CPA (K) or other professional qualification in accounting

·  At least 2 years accounting experience preferably in an NGO

·  Well versed in computerized accounting packages

·  Knowledge of finance processes, systems and principles.
