2. VCE Examination Results Service

The 2013 VCE examination summary results data will be made available on VASS to school and RTO staff from 3.00 pm on Sunday 15 December 2013.

As a courtesy to other schools, the VCAA strongly recommends schools run these particular sets of reports (School Admin School Statistics) until after 5.00pm. This will ensure that all schools will be able to efficiently download individual student results in preparation for working with students the following day.

Teachers can use this data to:

  • identify strengths and weaknesses in a class’s performance against particular parts of the curriculum
  • consider the effectiveness of current teaching practices
  • inform their professional learning discussions with fellow teachers, leading to improved teaching practices for their VCE classes in the following year.

The range of reports within the VCE Examination Results Service can be accessed in VASS through the menu School Admin School Statistics.

The following table provides details of some of the reports available through the Examination Results Service.

The VCAA encourages that relevant staff have online access to the Examination Results Service. Online access provides more detailed information compared to the standard printed reports.Staff wishing to use this service should contact their VASS Administrator.

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that have access to VASS will be able to produce VET results and statistics reports for students undertaking VET certificates provided by the RTO.These results and statistics include Graded Assessment results for scored VCE VET units.

School staff, such as VCE coordinators and faculty heads, can use the VCE Data Service to analyse the performance information of their VCE students. In particular, staff can identify strengths and weaknesses in the overall performance of groups of students in the school’s VCE program.

Staff wishing to utilise this service should contact their VASS coordinator, who can then provide access.

3. Professional development in analysing your school’s VCE results

The VCAA will be conducting free professional development sessions for school staff wishing to enhance their skills at analysing their school’s VCE results. These sessions will start in late February 2014.

These sessions will cover how to analyse your school’s VCE results, both from the VCE Examination Results Service and the VCE Data Service. During the sessions staff will have the opportunity to analyse their own school’s VCE results and ask questions about their results. The sessions are designed for new users but are also informative for experienced users.

Each 2½-hour session is provided free of charge.
