HAROLD STOKES
Harold D. Stokes of Covington, GA died Friday, June 4, 2010 at KindredHospital. He was born on June 26, 1929 in Covington, GA to Rebie and Gennie Mae Bowden Stokes. He was a life long cattle farmer which was his passion and was a member of the Georgia Cattlemans Association. He was the former Fire Chief of Rocky Plains Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a dedicated member and Deacon of County Line Baptist Church. He retired from Stanley Bostitch as a supervisor after 40 years of service. Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife of 50 years: Opal Stokes of Covington, GA; son: Bobby Stokes of Covington, GA; daughter and son-in-law: Angela and Guy Williams of Covington, GA; son: Barry Stokes of Covington, GA; grandchildren: Kelsey Williams and Keaton Williams. He is preceded in death by a son: Gregory Harold Stokes; brothers: Bill Stokes and Bobby Stokes; father: Rebie Stokes; mother: Gennie Mae Bowden Stokes. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday June 7, 2010 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Clifton Brown officiating. Interment will be at CovingtonCityCemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Harold A. Stokes, Jr
Harold A. Stokes, Jr., 72, of Oklahoma City, passed away June 8, 2010. He was born December 6, 1937 in Oklahoma City to Harold and Laura Stokes. Harold graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1957. He was a proud member of the Army National Guard for 6 yrs. Harold lived in Oklahoma City until his health caused him to move to Kingfisher, OK with his daughter in 2008. Harold was a self-employed paint contractor for 42 yrs. He enjoyed going to the lake, driving dune buggies and competing in fast draw pistol contests. Harold loved restoring old cars, was an avid bowler and a huge NASCAR fan. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa, and her husband, Joe Markus, of Kingfisher; daughter, Karla, and her husband, Bill Henthorn, of Crescent; daughter, Amy Anselmi of Crescent; stepdaughter, Marilyn Snead of OKC; stepson, Mike Goss of OKC; stepson, Mark Goss, and his wife, Barbara, of OKC; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Lilly; his father; his mother and stepfather, Charles Rutherford. Services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at 10:00 am, at Advantage Funeral Home South Chapel; burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

She was born Nov. 24, 1941.
Survivors include her husband, Garnett Stokes, Quitman; sons, Rick Stokes and Ron Stokes; brothers, Charles Ray Crawford, Jesse Crawford, Bob Crawford, Paul Crawford, and Donald Bob Merritt; sister, Ruby Crawford; and other relatives.
