The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Provincial Advisory Committee (PAC) Member Volunteer. Reporting to the PAC Chair, the PAC member volunteer will serve on the committee that provides advice, insight and expertise to the Vice President and Director, People Services regarding strategies and tactics on volunteer engagement. The PAC will also be a voice for volunteers and endeavour to bring the perspective of the volunteer to the conversation. The PAC will support the continuing evolution of volunteer engagement within the CRC and will advise on emerging needs and roles for volunteers in service delivery, ambassador and advisory capacities
Key Responsibilities
Advise the senior leadership team on volunteer engagement strategies
Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for PAC membership
Assist with the screening and interviewing of potential volunteers
Develop mechanisms for effective communication processes to ensure volunteer “voices are heard”
Assist with the implementation of “ambassador” roles in departments/programs/services
Work with the People Services team in awards and recognition activities
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for this position are the completion of a post- secondary education (diploma or degree) from a recognized institution, with a concentration in human resources/volunteer resources, communications or business management;and a minimum of 3 years of job/volunteer related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Abilities and Skills:
Well versed in the Canadian Red Cross fundamental principles, mission, Strategy 2020 and Program and Services
A strong understanding of trends and demographics affecting volunteerism
A solid understanding of geo, social, ethnic, economic and cultural diversity in the province
Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
Strong writing skills
Proficient use of computer applications
Strong communication and interviewing skills
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
Ability to influence others
Commitment: PAC members will be asked to participate for a period of three years in alignment with the organization’s three-year planning and budgeting cycle. However, the commitment may be longer or shorter based on an individual volunteer’s interest and availability, objectives to be achieved and the advice/support required by the Vice President.
This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check.

Working Conditions
Primarily working remotely from home
Must have access to a computer and telephone for teleconferences and team calls
Will be required to attend two to four face to face meetings a year (reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed)
May be required, on occasion, to work non traditional hours including evenings and weekends
