It was practically dark when we arrived in Twin Falls the night before, but we could still see a little of the Snake River as we drove over the Perrine Bridge on the north end of the city. One of our classmates remembered hearing about Evil Knievel attempting to jump the Snake RiverCanyon in his rocket powered motorcycle. We all remembered learning that Lewis and Clark followed the Snake River as they explored the LouisianaTerritory. Their guide, Sacagawea, told them about how the Shoshone tribe used to catch salmon at the foot of Shoshone Falls. We also remembered that the pioneers also saw the Snake River and Shoshone Falls as they traveled the Oregon Trail to Oregon. Because we remembered all this history, we decided that this morning we would tour Shoshone Falls.
We got up early and had breakfast at the Ideal diner on Central Ave. The bill was $31.95. Now that are tummies were full, we were off to see the falls. We passed several golf courses and CentennialPark along the banks of the Snake River. At the falls, we learned that they are known as the Niagara of the west because they are larger than the Niagara Falls in New York.. It is higher and has a larger volume of water then Niagara Falls. The Snake River Plunges over 212 feet, filling the air with a cool mist. Since the sun was shining we were able to see a rainbow made by the falling water. It was a beautiful sight. The falls are also a part of Idaho’s power plant.
After enjoying this spectacular work of nature, we jumped into our car and were off again. We ate lunch at Pizza Hut on Addison Ave., filled up the car with gas, and took off for our next stop, Salt Lake City, Utah.
After traveling 3 hours and 42 minutes and 219.02 miles we had reached our destination. Salt Lake City was home of the 2002 Winter Olympics. We checked into a Comfort Inn and rested because we had a busy day ahead of us. We visited The Museum of Church History and Art located on 45 North WestTemple just west of Temple Square. The museum contains art and artifacts that tell the story of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from its humble beginnings in upstate New Yorkto the hardships of the Mormon pioneers crossing the plains and up to its present time as a worldwide church with a membership of 10 million. The museum offered various displays, art galleries, tours, videos, photographs and many significant artifacts related to church events and history. We saw a real covered wagon, like those used by the pioneers who settled the SaltLakeValley. . We relived Brigham Young's 1847 pioneer journey and enjoyed fine art from around the world. We climbed a ship bunk like those in which immigrants from Europe traveled on, and saw an original 1830 copy of the Book of Mormon. We saw Deuel Cabin which was built in 1847 by one of the first Mormon families to arrive in the SaltLakeValley. The museum was a great place for us kids. It offered many interactive displays and activities for kids to enjoy such as puppet shows, films, and costumed actors
Located in the middle to downtown Salt Lake City is Temple Square. This is Utah’s number one tourist attraction. We took a 45 minute free tour of the Square. We were excited to see the tabernacle which is home to the World’s Famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Several monuments and statues are also located throughout the grounds portraying significant events of the Mormon Church .This long day of touring really tired us out. We ate dinner at Denny’s, went back to the motel to get ready for a long night’s sleep. Some of us went swimming in the motel’s pool, played video games, and watched television. Others went fast to sleep.

Tulsa Goes Gushing through YellowstoneNational Park
Established on March 1, 1872, YellowstoneNational Park is the first and oldest national park in the world. It got its name from the Indians. Inside Yellowstone are Old Faithful Geyser and some 10,000 hot springs and geysers, the majority of the planet's total. These wonders are evidence of one of the world's largest active volcanoes; its last eruption created a crater or caldera that spans almost half of the park.
Hello from YellowstoneLake
You are looking east at YellowstoneLake (1) from a vantage point about four miles above Old Faithful. Twenty-mile-longYellowstoneLake is the largest mountain lake in North America.
Geysers along the boardwalk trail in Yellowstone.
Historically, visitors traveling to Yellowstone would arrive at by stagecoach from the Old Faithful area.
No Swimming please’ Too Hot To Handle’The Fire hole River has a world-famous reputation for fly-fishing. Brown, rainbow, and brook trout. The river gets its name from the steam (which they thought was smoke from fires) witnessed by early trappers to the area. Their term for a mountain valley was "hole," so it got the name Fire hole River.
Dearborn Is On The Way To Burlington, CO
Today we woke up in Meeker, Colorado. Jeffrey woke up and hit his head with a loud BUMP!!!!! We got dressed and went downstairs at the bed and breakfast and had some waffles and muffins. We got back on the road and headed toward Denver, Colorado. Primarily staying on I-70 East.
We arrived in Denver, which has a population of 2.4 million people. Denver was founded in 1859 as a gold mine camp. Denver is one of America’s youngest cities and one of the most exciting. First we visited the Rocky Mountains. What a cool sight!! There were soooooo many mountains that it was impossible to count them all! We visited the capitol building. It was pretty big and beautiful.
Next stop was the aquarium. There we saw all different types of fish. We went to the zoo. First we had hot dogs, fries and soft drinks. Everyone but Allie fed the giraffes. We wanted to see the tiger but he was fast asleep. After that we went to TinyTown and Railroad. We went in and out of the trains. Aaron decided to race Jeffrey and Allie in and out of the trains. We all tied.
Then we got back into our red truck and drove off to Burlington.
Next stop was the movie theater. We saw Tears of the Sun. The movie was pretty good, but Jeffrey didn’t like it. Afterwards we went bowling at Century Lane Bowling Alley. Allie won game 1, and Aaron won game 2. Next we ate dinner at the Country Club. It was very good. Then we hit the hay at Burlington Super 8 Motel. We were looking forward to the next day of our adventure.
