Agenda:

1.Rick Collins chaired the meeting. He had everyone introduce themselves. He

informed the committee about the college’s proposal to start a new ultrasound

program at Mt. San Jacinto College.

2. Lynn Mitts introduced herself and explained her position as a Professional

Consultant.Her role is to propose curriculum and to set up the program according

ToCAAHEP Standards and Guidelines. Lynn had everyone look at the program

brochure to see how the program was being laid out. Curriculum was discussed.

Pre-requisites were discussed and approved. DMS 100 Fundamentals of

Sonography was discussed. The advisory members strongly supported having this

course. They feel it will provide the students with basic scanning skills that will

help them be more successful in completing the program.

3.Lynn asked the members if they were interested in training ultrasound students

beginning the Summer 2006. The members were very supportive of participating

in student training. The members indicated a need for competent sonographers to

hire. Many of the members had trained people before and were aware of the time

and effort required to train a student.

4.Joyce Johnson indicated the need for a Medical Director for the program. She

asked the members to see if any of the radiologists at their hospitals would be

interested.

5.Joyce indicated the need for a program director. She asked the members to let her

know if they were interested.

6.Lynn asked the members to complete the employer survey for justification of a

Sonography program.

7.The meeting then adjourned at 1:30 p.m.. Everyone thanked Mark Redmond from MenifeeValleyMedicalCenter for hosting the meeting and providing an excellent lunch.
