About HBSA/NC Community Partners
HBSA/NC Community Partners is a program of the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California, which is a 501c3 alumni organization serving over 5,600 HBS graduates in Northern California.
The mission of HBSA/NC Community Partners is to inspire and empower HBS alumni to make a positive social impact in their community. We do this by offering alumni opportunities to leverage their skills and experience to help non-profit organizations succeed.
We aspire that all HBS alumni will find ways to contribute their expertise to Bay Area non-profits to strengthen our community.
Activities of HBSA/NC Community Partners include:
•Creating opportunities for alumni to serve on 3-6 month pro bono consulting projects for non-profits
•Facilitatingtwo-hour brainstorming sessions for alumni to offer advice to non-profits
•Hosting training and networking workshops for alumni interested in leading change in the non-profit sector
•Recommending non-profit leaders to obtain an HBSA/NC Scholarship to attend non-profit Executive Education programs at HBS
Our Impact
HBSA/NC Community Partners has operated in the Bay Area for over 30 years, and is the longest running HBS Community Partners program in the world.
•1,000 NorCal alumni have participated in the program over 30 years (~200 alum annually)
•350 NorCal non-profits have been served over 30 years (~40 annually)
•HBSA/NC Community Partners provides approximately $3 million in service value annually to the community
•Offered 45Bay Area non-profit CEOs/Executive Directors (4 annually) the ability to attend an HBS Executive Education program focused on strategic non-profit management.
Position Summary
The Program Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining and elevating the growing operations of Community Partners. He/She will help ensure a quality alumni experience by managing day-to-day operations for the pro bono consulting projects and brainstorming sessions, running marketing communications, supporting event execution, and conducting analyses that will help the organization refine its delivery model.
The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director of HBSANC Community Partners.
This is a part-time role, approximately 20 hours per week, ideal for those who seek a flexible, work from home arrangement. There will be some evening meetings.
Qualifications
•Affinity for the HBSA/NC Community Partners mission
•Strong organization and management skills, with exceptional attention to details and timelines
•Strong interpersonal and writing skills, with a client-facing, customer service orientation
•Can work independently, exhibit good judgment and have a positive attitude
•Skilled in the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google (Drive, Docs, Sheets), Survey Monkey, MailChimp, WordPress, Salesforce. If not already proficient, must be a quick-start in learning how to use these applications.
•Skilled in using social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
•Bachelor’s degree required; HBS MBA is a plus
