SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the CDMO, plans, organizes, directs and coordinates ongoing and special fundraising programs by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In coordination with CDMO, develops and implements fundraising strategic plan and a calendar of planned activities to reach and exceed HACU strategic goals and objectives.
Conductsprospect research with local community, national, international and foundation entities to identify mutually beneficial partnerships in support of events, scholarships, student programs, special projects and general ongoing operations. Writes, telephones or emails prospective contributors and persuades them to contribute funds or in-kind gifts by explaining mission, purpose and benefitsof partnering with HACU.
Plans, coordinates and implements fund drives for special projects and events, including annual giving and micro campaigns to reach current and potential contributors for pledges of ongoing support and contributions from individuals, alumni, corporations, federal agencies and foundations. Coordinates support for personal solicitations from members of staff, volunteer organizations, committees,alumni, governing board and corporate & philanthropic council members according to special interests and capabilities.
Develops and maintains relationships with existing and prospectivesupporters, including alumni, corporate partners, foundations, federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and individualsto establish or contribute to special funds (i.e., cash gifts, endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests) and conferring with attorneys as necessary to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and HACU.
MaintainsRaiser’s Edge database with existing and prospective donors and their contributions to ensure internal and external financial reports are accurately prepared. Reviews and analyzes information about contributors and grantors to continuously improve the development, planningand implementation ofeffective strategies for fundraising.
Manages combined Federal & state campaigns and maintains records of contributionsin Raiser’s Edge to assist in the preparation of necessary internal and external financial reports.
Responsible for acknowledging all contributions madeto HACU with letters of appreciation. Composes all letters and coordinates the mailings with the Development Assistant. Ensures all letters are uploaded to corresponding records in Raiser’s Edge.
Manages and oversees the sale of conferenceprogram advertisingand sponsorship solicitations for annual, capitol forum and international conferences. Ensures all aspects of advertising and sponsor relations are addressed pre-event, on-site and post-event. Provides event analysis and statistical reports (pre- and post-) of sales efforts and results; identify new sales challenges and trends. Coordinates with Development Assistant, invoicing of conference advertisers and sponsors and keeps track of conference support.
Collaborates with Conference & Events staff to help secure priority placement exhibit spaces as part of sponsorships and assures that sponsors and other exhibitors are properly accommodated in the exhibit area during conferences.
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in related area with minimum of four years’ experience in development and/or fundraising required. Master’s degree preferred. Candidate must be results oriented, able to travel periodically and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other PC-based software. Experience with Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common corporate and marketing research publications. Ability to respond in a timely manner to inquiries from individuals, corporations, foundations and Federal agencies. Ability to develop presentations and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or presentation form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work usually takes place in clean, pleasant, and comfortable office settings. Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times. Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings, and require longer hours of work on constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and evenings. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises one or more employee(s) in the Development Department in the absence of the CDMO.
