DB2 Enterprise Server Edition V8.1 Setup
Note: This software can be imaged (ghosted). Please follow additional instructions at the end of this document.
Log in as the local administrator.
1.)Insert the DB2 V8.1 EE CD and the CD should auto run. If not then double click setup.exe in the CD.
2.)Select Install Products in the window that appears.
3.)On the Select the product you would like to install page leave default (and the only) choice DB2 UDB Enterprise Server Edition and click Next.
4.)On the Welcome to the DB2 Setup wizard page click Next.
5.)Accept license agreement on the next page and click Next.
6.)On the Select the installation type page select Typical. Do notcheck Data warehousing and Satellite administration capability boxes. Click Next.
7.)Press OK to dismiss warning related to APPC on the next page.
8.)On the Select the installation action page check Install DB2 Enterprise Server Edition on this computer. Click Next.
9.)On the Select installation folder page change directory to C:\Program Files\SQLLIB. Click Next.
10.)On the Set user information for the DB2 Administration Server page type in User name: wasadmin and Password:wasadmin. Check the box Use the same user name and password for the remaining DB2 services. Click Next.
11.)On the Set up the administration contact list page select Local – Create a contact list on this system. Do notcheck Enable notification box. Click Next.
12.)Press OK to dismiss warning related to SMTP server on the next page.
13.)On the Configure DB2 instances page leave as is the only default DB2 instance and click Next.
14.)On the Prepare the DB2 tools catalog page check Do not prepare the DB2 tools catalog on this computer box and click Next.
15.)On the Specify a contact for health monitor notification page check New contact box, type in Name: Administrator and Email address: . Do not check Address is for a pager box. Click Next.
16.)On the Start copying files and create response file page read the Current settings and click Install. The Setup starts.
17.)On the Setup is complete page click Finish.
Creating Sample Database
1.)Restart the computer and login as wasadmin. First Steps window should automatically appear. If it does not, you can start it navigating to Start -> Programs -> IBM DB2 -> Set-up Tools -> First Steps.
2.)Click Create Sample Database.
3.)In the First Steps – Create Sample Databases window check DB2 UDB sample box and click OK.
4.)Watch the database creation in Creating Selected Sample Databases window and click OK when it is completed.
5.)Back in the First Stepswindow, click Work with Sample Database. This will start theControlCenter.
6.)In the Control Center expand Systems -> <computer name> -> Instances -> DB2 -> Databases. Make sure database SAMPLE exists.
7.)Exit theControlCenter.
8.)Exit First Steps.
Imaging/Ghosting Information
After you have copied an image of this software in to a new machine, DB2 needs to be configured with the new machine's host name.
1) Search for the db2nodes.cfg file within C:\Program Files\SQLLIB. Open the file in note pad. Change the old host name with the new one. For example, if the new machine's host name is newyork, it will look like this:

2) Then open a command line
db2set DB2SYSTEM=NEWHOSTNAME
