SSHRC Doctoral Awards
Overview
The SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships and Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) Doctoral Awards programs seek to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly-qualified personnel. Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada are eligible to apply.
Value & Duration
SSHRC Doctoral - $20,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months
Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral - $35,000 per year for 36 months

SSHRC Doctoral Application Process for University of Guelph applicants
1. Access the application and instructions on the SSHRC website.
2. Students registered at the University of Guelph at the time of application must submit a hard copy of their application along with original transcripts and two sealed reference letters to the Graduate Program Assistant in their current program no later than November 1, 2016.
3. Applications are ranked by each department and forwarded to the Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS).
4. Members of the OGPS Awards Committee review the applications and select those that will be forwarded to the national competition. The university is given a quota for applications that can be forwarded each year.
5. Applicants will be notified whether or not their application has been selected to be forwarded to the national competition by mid-January.
Note: Students who are not registered at a Canadian university at the time of application should apply directly to SSHRC and meet their application deadline.
