The Culinary Arts Scholarship has been established to provide a $1,500.00 scholarship to a graduating senior of Allen High School who will be pursuing a career in the field of Culinary Arts, Hotel/Restaurant Mgmt., Institutional Food Service Management, or Dietetics.
The availability of the scholarship will be publicized through the media. The media to include but not limited to the AHS Broadcasting Department, parent E-nnouncements, the AHS College & Career Center, Eagle News,and the House Counselors & Career Advisors.
The awards procedures begin with the scholarship application being made available to students from Kelly O’Hair in the Culinary/Hospitality classesor download an application through Navianceat Allen High School or from the Allen ISD website. Completed applications should be returned to Kelly O’Hair in the Culinary Kitchen office by April 8, 2016. All applications meeting the deadline will be submitted to an impartial committee.
The committee will be comprised of a minimum of five active members of the Allen ISD Chapter of TASN. The committee will review and consider all applications. The award recipient will be decided by a consensus of all committee members.
The recipient of the Culinary Arts Scholarship will be announced at the awards assembly on the date designated by officials at Allen High School. The presenter of the award will be the current president of the Allen ISD Chapter of TASN or her designee.
The recipient of the scholarship must present a letter of acceptance from the college or culinary school of their choice indicating major field of study to the president of the Allen ISD Chapter of TASN. Upon receipt of this letter, the treasurer of the Allen ISD Chapter of TASN will finalize payment to the college or culinary school. In the event the recipient does not attend a college or culinary school with a major in culinary arts, the amount of the scholarship awarded will be refunded or remain in the treasury of the Allen ISD chapter of TASN.

Application
The Culinary Arts Scholarship was initiated in the 1999-2000 school year in order to provide assistance to a student who plans to pursue a career in Culinary Arts, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Institutional Food Service Management, or Dietetics.
In order for the selection committee to make a fair assessment of merit, it is essential that all aspects of the application are complete and that the application is returned to Kelly O’Hair in the culinary kitchen “Blu” office on or before April 8, 2016.

Application Requirements
All applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a senior in the current graduating class
- Demonstrated interest in the area of Culinary Arts
- Have made application to an accredited college or university or established Culinary Arts Program
- Have made application for this scholarship
- Provide a minimum of two handwrittenpersonal references
- One reference must be from a current or past AISD instructor
- One reference must be from a community member (excluding all relatives)
