Ed James is a 1949 graduate of Aurora High School where he was an outstanding athlete in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He was voted Most Valuable Athlete by his high school coaches. After high school, Mr. James played 5 years in the Cincinnati Reds farm system and is generally known as one of the best athletes in the history of Dearborn County.

Matt Phillips is a 2002 graduate of South Dearborn High School where he was a 3-sport athlete in baseball, basketball and soccer; earning 10 varsity letters. He was a standout in all three sports but earned Indiana All-State recognition in baseball and soccer. In baseball, Mr. Phillips was a 3-time All-EIAC selection, 2-time Dearborn County Player of the Year, 2-time batting champion, All Sectional, and still holds school records for most career triples and runs scored. After high school, he played collegiate baseball for 3 years at Vincennes University and the University of Southern Indiana respectively.

Renee Scudder Walston is a 1995 graduate of South Dearborn High School where she played basketball, softball and golf; earning 11 varsity letters. In basketball, she was a 4-year varsity starter holding school records for most career 3-point baskets and most career free throws made. Mrs. Scudder Walston earned 5 All EIAC honors in basketball, softball, and golf. In 1993, she was inducted into the Book of America’s Best Athletes, earned all-sectional in each sport, and helped her team win the girls basketball sectional in 1993, 1994, and 1995. After high school, she played collegiate basketball for 1 year at Franklin College and then played 3 years of golf at the University of Evansville.

Abbey Schmahl is a 2008 graduate of South Dearborn High School where she earned 11 varsity letters in soccer, basketball, and softball. Out of 3 sports, she earned All-EIAC, All-District, All-District Top Team Player, EIAC Co-MVP & MVP, Dearborn County player of the year, and All-RTC honors. Abbey excelled academically achieving Valedictorian of her class and received the Lilly Scholarship for Dearborn County. After high school, she was a two-sport athlete at Hanover College playing soccer and basketball earning additional athletic and academic collegiate accolades.
