We live in a globalised world, full of challenges but opportunities as well. Cities and local governments need innovative approaches and appropriate solutions in order to meet the challenges and use the opportunities to succeed in the global competition. This requires first off all one thing: creativity! The 5th Local Economic Development Forum of Tbilisi aims to provide a platform for participants from the private and public sector as well as civil society to think about “creative cities”, discussing creative approaches; this “creativity” is necessary to address the challenges that are obstacles for the future economic, social and ecological development of cities and municipalities. Best Practices of creative cities will be presented, experiences and lessons learnt of successful instruments and innovative solutions will be exchanged. The forum will enable participants from all sectors to get involved in actual considerations which impact the City Life by exchanging views/practices and setting goals for future cooperation and development.
Key questions of the forum and its topics are:
What can cities and local governments do to address - together with private sector and civil society - the economic, ecologic and social challenges of today, in order to improve their attractiveness and competitiveness in a globalised world?
· What are the factors which make a city competitive and attractive?
· What are good examples for creative approaches and innovative instruments, etc.?
· How to promote creativity?
· What are the experiences, challenges, necessary conditions and lessons learnt?
