COACH TRIP SLAIDBURN
Last month in the East, this month in the West, on the edge of the Trough of Bowland. All three walks starting and finishing in the village of Slaidburn and at least the reservoir should be full. All the usual refreshments for all tastes.
A WALK STRENUOUS CIRCULAR 14 MILES
Comments were made about the brevity of the Pendle notes, so the leader thought she would do better this time. Leaving Slaidburn on fields on field paths for Easington, your leader and back-up were soon walking into the wind ( the storm had yet abated). Shelter was found in Newton for elevenses. Climbing up toward Pain Hill (farm) we soon rejoined the wind. A barn at the side of Wood House lane offered shelter for lunch. We decided to go directly to Croasdale House via Shay House. If we have enough time today, we can continue up the lane to the Roman Road and descend to Croasdale House via House of Croadsdale). From here, it was onwards and upwards to the top of the Bentham Road (305m) before descending to the calm of Stocks Res. At the dam, we met another party. Where was the track to Slaidburn? Up there, said your leader, pointing to some trees. Thanks to Mr. Wilkinson, your directions were spot on. We were within ten minutes of Slaidburn when the heavens opened. A flooded ford was in front of us…… Suitably revived with hot drinks, we warned the café and pub of the impending invasion and headed for home. Soon it was pitched black but then the sky was lit up by sheet lightening. The heavens opened bombarding the car with hailstones the size of marbles. Let’s hope for better weather today, so that we can enjoy the views of the beautiful countryside. We walk on a mixture of roads, farm tracks and fields. Mud virtually guaranteed!!

B WALK MODERATE CIRCULAR 10.5 MILES
We leave Slaidburn and make our way to HolmeheadBridge. Following the River Hodder upstream to Stocks Reservoir. We then follow fields, paths and minor roads to GisburnForest, to New House. Taking the opposite bank of Stocks Reservoir, we make our way back to Slaidburn, with good views, good paths and not a lot of hills. Leaders Derek and Annette
C WALK EASY CIRCULAR 6.5 OR 8 MILES
Do you like stiles? Then join us on this walk, we have quite a variety of them. We will have our customary cuppa before setting off up and down over moorland, a bit boggy when recced, then over to Stocks Reservoir before returning to Slaidburn. The option to extend the walk can be decided at the time.
