THEME:PLASTICS AND PLASTIC PRODUCTS AROUND US
Plastic is 21st century's material. Material or products made from numerous types of plastics are more and more present in every pore of our lives. These products are useful, cheap, and easy to handle, adaptable, useful, and economically, energetically and ecologically suitable. But, our behaviour with plastics is questionable. Plastic is fantastic (Croatian: Plastično je fantastično) Blog is just dealing with this material. It is a representation of plastic, especially plastic bags, what are, as they are, from which material have been made, what mean to our and what they mean in our lives, what is benefit of them, and that what the damage and is the plastic God-given material or the devil's work. Blog has intention to show plastics in positive and scientifically proven way, as plastics in general as well plastic products and plastic bags. Sometimes it seems to be tilting at windmills, but day by day readers begins viewed differently plastics and everyday plastic products. Blog editor try on more acceptable, professional, scientific and popular way to write about plastics, provide relevant technical and scientific evidences about sources and data that are used to break some ingrained myths, lies and half-information, all in order to spread the truth and contradict incorrect opponents and catastrophists who are against everything, even against plastic. Blog and his editor want, with expert and scientific proven facts, to change the perception of plastics and plastic products that surround us in all parts of our lives.
The competition for the best photograph is announced with the intention that photo amateurs, professional photographers, artists and many photography enthusiasts trough this kind of expression - photography show to the public what plastic products is and effect on their perception of plastics and plastic products through the work of each participant of competitions. Therefore, each participant is expected tender view, personal attitude of plastics and plastic products in daily life.
All interested photographers are invited to choose from their already-recorded images or to take a few pictures that would be the author's view of plastics and plastic products - from the everyday, the topic areas in which the author deals with the professional or amateur, to photographs that depict an event, a moment or simple plastic product, through the eye of the author, the author's personality or his/her attitude.
GENERAL CONDITIONS AND TERMS
- The contest will have the right to participate equally all adults over 18.
- The author, a participant of the competition, with the completed application form confirms the authenticity of the captured image and takes responsibility for the content of submitted photos.
- Editing of photos in programs for photo-editing is allowed to the extent that does not distort and does not change the basic meaning of the recording theme.
COPYRIGHT:
- By filling the application form author will give consent to the organizers of the contest that can publish photos submitted with a clear signature of the artist without compensation, in order to promote the exhibition.
- The author should specify the place and year in which the photo was taken. Specifying the place and year of recording we will give seriousness and dignity of our profession in the study of photographic creation, and all the other experts in the study of topics of this competition.
BEST WORKS EXIBITION:
- Organizers has plan after completing the tender best photos to the public at the photo exhibition which will be organized during June / July 2014 (dates to be defined later) in the premises of Photo Club Rijeka in Rijeka, and will try to arrange the same or similar exhibitions in other Croatian cities.
- The organizer will use the selected images from the exhibition for the promotion and advancement of photographic creativity.
- Some of the selected photos will be printed on promotional materials for the exhibition, such as the invitation to the opening of the exhibition and accompanying events, poster or information to journalists. All the above forms of disclosure are non-commercial values and haveonly purpose to promote the exhibition and author. Each photographer whose pictures are used or reproduced in the catalogue or elsewhere, will receive copies of these publications at the address given in the application form. Moral copyrights, in terms of proper signing by the printed works, will be fully respected.
- All photos will be posted on the blog Plastic is fantastic, and selected the winning images will be reproduced in the catalogue and magazine Polimeri, without payment to authors.
CONTEST:
- Each participant may send applications five / 5 / times during the contest, and each application must be accompanied by three / 3 / photos.
TECHNOLOGY AND SIZE:
- Photos have to be sent only in digital format to e-mail only in
.jpg /.jpeg/ format, size of each photo/ file/ no larger than 5 MB.
- Photos can be in colour / C /, monochrome / M / black and white / BW /.
DOCUMENTATION:
- Each author attached with photos: Properly completed application.
- When signing photos / files / use only English alphabet letters, for example signature:
1_Kresimir_Kresic_Rijecka_luka
This mean, first write serial number, full name and the name of the photo. On the application form write titles of photos in the same order to uploaded photos, and use letters of author's language.
- The author, if he wants, can nominate the title of the group of photos submitted by the application form for the competition. Group titlewill be especially featured in the blog post title.
- Applications that do not have complete documentation organizer will not accept.
When photos will be received, promptly will be published onthe Blog PLASTIC IS FANTASTIC
( - each author will be informed by e-mail about publishing of photos on the blog.
Blog posts will be in the format of max 650 x max 800 pixels in order indicated by the author. Each submitted a series of each author will be published in a separate post with title: Fotogalerija PLASTIK - author's name and surname - the ordinal number of the group - the title of the group
Upon the closing of contest on April 30th2014 at 24:00, all received photos will be reviewed by a jury composed of:
- Prof. Borislav Božić - Photoclub Rijeka - president of jury
- Ervin Dobrović, museum advisor, Director of the City of Rijeka Museum
- Dr.sc. Đurđica Španiček - Chief Editor of the magazinePolimeri
- Mr.sc. Maja Rujnić Sokele - Society of the Plastics and Rubberexpert secretary
- ing. Romeo Deša - Society of Plastics and Rubber board member, editor of Blog (contest administrative secretary)
Jury will select 30 to 40 of the best photos and prepare them for presentation and exhibition. Jury will highlight the photo to the first, second and third prizes and diplomas and letters of commendation.
Announcement of results will be on May 20th 2014on Blog PLASTIC IS FANTASTICand bye-mail on authors' addresses.
EXIBITION:
The exact date and venue of the exhibition organizer shall promptly notify all participants of contest.
AWARDS:
Society of Plastics and Rubber will award the following cash prizes:
- cash prize in amount 1000 kn
- cash prize in amount500 kn
- cash prize in amount300 kn
- special award - diploma for the most original photo that shows the plastic product and / or application of plastics as materials
- three diplomas
- three letters of commendation
Catalogue:
The organizer will publish exhibition's catalogue it in printed form. Catalogue will be distributed to all participants at the address given in the application form.
