Reception of ASDEPP representatives by prof. I.Grubišić, Dean of FAMENA, at his office
The meeting continued in the meeting room of FAMENA. After welcome words of Prof. Guedes Soares, ASDEPP Grantholder, DENA&OEof the FAMENA was presented by Prof. K. Žiha, head of Department. This presentation was followed by Prof. R. Grubišić, Head of study of NA at FAMENA, who presented development of Bologna Process at FAMENA.
ASDEPP Tempus Project Proposal was presented by Prof. J. Parunov, ASDEPP coordinator. He pointed out expected outcomes of the meeting, which are to confirm name, location and rough contents of courses that will be implemented according to the ASDEPP proposal and to provide names and E-mail addresses of principal (EU) and associated (Croatia) lecturers.
Prof. J. Prpić-Oršić, from FE in Rijeka, presentedFE andits Department of NavalArchitecture and described the role of FE in ASDEPP. She also asked for possibility to implement more courses at FE than planned by initial proposal. Unfortunately, other participants could not agreed to meet this request as preparations for the Project are advanced so far that such big changes are no more possible. However, FE is encouraged to participate actively in the ASDEPP, respecting approved breakdown of the Tempus grant among the consortium members.
Prof. B. Blagojević from FESB provided presentation of FESB and the role that ASDEPP may have in further development of the study of naval architecture.
After these presentations of Croatian institutions participating in the ASDEPP, EU institutions has been presented by their representatives. Thus, Prof. C.Guedes Soares, ASDEPP Grantholder, presented IST and Unit of Marine Technology and Engineering in Lisbon, Portugal. He briefly presented impressive list of more than 50 EU projects in which Unit of Marine Technology and Engineering participated, while coordinated some of them. Mr. Alen Klanac presented Helsinky University of Technology of HUTwith emphasizes of their huge experience in icing and ice loading as well as in collision and grounding, which is
of importance for ASDEPP. Finally, Prof. Sime Malenica presented Bureau Veritas, representative of marine industry in ASDEPP, with their very strong research department.
The last presentation of the first day was by Prof. J. Parunov, who presented comments and recommendations of European Commission on ASDEPP. These comments need to be clarified in the framework of progress reports. All questions posed by EC are considered attentively and answers and explanations are proposed that will be included in progress reports.
Presentation of IST by Prof. C. Guedes Soares, ASDEPP Grantholder
First day ended by common conclusions on courses that will be implemented at FAMENA and FE. It was agreed to develop courses by modular approach. Each course will have two modules: first module common for MNA and PhD students, while the second module will be offered to PhDstudent only. Prof. C. Guedes Soares will investigate possibilities to offer Phd module to foreign PhD students. For that reason, it was concluded that it would be necessary to specify exact contents of courses and dates of implementation as soon as possible.
Second day of the meeting started by presentation of Prof. V. Slapničar : „ASDEPP Classroom at FAMENA“. The preliminary project of classroom that will be used for ASDEPP lectures is presented. The classroom will be fully equipped for modern computer-based, internet-based and distance learning and will represent one of main long-term benefits of ASDEPP for FAMENA. Equipment for the classroom will be founded by Tempus, while furniture and internal decoration will be financed by other resources.
Prof. Vedran Slapničar presenting project of ASDEPP classroom at FAMENA
Prof. Šime Malenica, who is experienced lecturer on other Tempus projects, shared his past experiences and lessons learned on those projects with ASDEPP participants. He gave to participants lot of practical and useful advices. He also asked for possibility to send PhD students to BV using Tempus grant. That proposal was accepted by all participants.
Prof. Joško Parunov presented financial requirements for ASDEPP actions. He turned attention of participants to the eligible activities in Tempus projects and gave overview of supported costs. He also presented two most important Tempus financial documents: „Convention of staff cost“ and „Individual Grantholder report for staff travel and cost of stay“. These two documents need to be properly filled for each Tempus action.
The presentation of financial requirements initiated discussion relating to the printing and publishing costs. It was concluded that there is need for better utilization of this cost heading in order to make dissemination and sustainability of the project results more efficient. Prof. C. Guedes Soares was kindly asked to investigate possibilities of publishing book with teaching material. It was also concluded that journal „Brodogradnja“ will be used for wide presentation of ASDEPP.
Prof. C. Guedes Soares presented financial management of the ASDEPP informing participants of the amount of pre-financing transferred to their accounts.
The last presentation of the meeting was that by Prof. J. Parunov, where activities done until kick-off meeting where presented to the participants and activities planned in near future are proposed. Concerning past activities, the ASDEPP was already presented at the Symposium SORTA in October, 2006, with 20-minutes presentation and where ASDEPP poster was presented.
In the near future, following activities are proposed :
By the 15th of March, E-mail communication between associated lecturers and principal lecturers will be established
preparation of the teaching material will start
elective courses will be proposed to Scientific Councils of FAMENA and FE
by the 1st of April, dates for training of Croatian staff at EU institutions will be defined. Priority will be given to the courses which will be implemented in September 2007. (Courses C1 and C2)
Brief presentation of the ASDEPP will be published in the next issue of the Journal „Brodogradnja“. Presentation will be prepared by the 15th of April.
By the 1st of June, project-dedicated web page will be initiated.
Progress report will be prepared by FAMENA, according to the Tempus rules.
Dissemination visits to local industry will be planned when exact dates and contents of courses are known.
The next meeting (1st coordination meeting) is preliminary planned to be held in Rijeka, 12-13 July.
