Footpath Report for meeting 3rd August 2016
Footpath 3 Update (previously reported on in June 2016)
I have checked the section from Smithcroft Bungalow to Barrow Hall Road and it is passable. So all footpath 3 is passable and should not require maintenance in the future.
Footpath 5 Update (previously reported on in June 2016)
I have checked from Barrow Hall Road and for approx 364 metersit is a farm track about 10’ wide. It then follows the edge of a cultivated field for 80 meters and will not require maintenance. The entrance on the north side of Southend Road has now been cut 26/7/2016 and the footpath is now clear from Southend Road to Barrow Hall Road. We will need to ask ECC to ensure the entrance from Southend Road is maintained in future years.
Footpath 7
Not yet cut 23/7/2016.
Footpath 8 Update previously reported on in June 2016)
There has been no further cutting by ECC so I can only assume the cut that took place was carried out by ECC contractors. The part which runs close to the ponds has been cut by the fishermen so is no longer a danger. We need to ensure that next year they do a thorough job and cut the part by the ponds as promised in 2015.
Footpath 12
From Common Road to Millbarn and the brewery the track is made up so requires no maintenance. It then becomes a well used farm track until it meets footpath 25 at this point it becomes a pathand is overgrown and needs cutting.
Footpath 13 Update (previously reported on in June 2016)
Seaview Drive to New Road - the end by New Road has been cut but a little nearer to Seaview there are a few stinging nettles but one can still get through 4/7/2016.
Cupids Chase to Victoria Drive has now been cut (12/7/2016)
Goldsworthy to Seaview has been cut.
So Footpath 13 is now passable for its complete length.
Footpath 19
The whole of the footpath is in Barling parish. The part of particular interest to Great Wakering is from Elm Cottage to Common Road where the footpath is a farm track and is unlikely to require cutting.
Footpath 25
For its length is a farm track so is unlikely to require cutting.
Footpath 29
The footpath is passable through its length but the first 30 yards or so could do with some attention as it could be possible to trip in the long grass. After it meets footpath 25 it becomes a track and is unlikely to require cutting. The first part would be an ideal place to use the parish council strimmer as the growth is not dense.
Footpaths 11 & 22 reported as cut in the Council meeting of 22nd June
