OLD BUSINESS
1. Minutes from the April 21, 2014 meeting were read. A motion was made by David Piotrowski and seconded by Barb Hatfield to accept the minutes with corrections, and passed by council and membership.
2. The treasurers’ report for the month of April, 2015 was presented by Treasurer, Brenda Mikesell. A motion was made by David Piotrowski and seconded by Fred Kapa, to accept the report as written, and passed by council and membership.
3. The flier for our upcoming antique Aircraft fly-in was presented. It is ready to be distributed to members who will take them to various places of interest and to people who will advertise the event for us.
4. The glass display cases that were purchased from the Meijer’s store have been picked up and are ready to be unloaded and prepared. There is another cabinet that we purchased that was not ready to be picked up yet, and will have to be received as soon as the store is finished with it.
5. There was discussion concerning a prior decision by the board and members regarding what the SVAM will be doing for members and their families when they pass. It appears there was a prior motion concerning this matter, however, we have unable to find it in the existing recorded minutes. Therefore a motion was made by Brenda Mikesell that memorials of up to $50 will be made upon the passing of any member or spouse of a member. Money will be given to the charity of their choice or as the family suggests. Upon the deaths of any other people who have in various ways contributed to the SVAM can be discussed on a case by case basis. In the event of a death, board members can be contacted as needed to approve the expenditure of funds for memorials so that the memorials can be made in a timely fashion. The motion was seconded by David Piotrowski, and passed by council and members.

OLD BUSINESS, continued
6. Al Kaufman’s (Airport manager) brother died this month, and Dan Kenny submitted a $50 amount to the family for their wishes. It was agreed that Dan will be reimbursed for this amount.
NEW BUSINESS
1. The update was discussed concerning our upcoming fly-in event. Dave Schneider has been contacted and will be handling various portions of the P.R. for the event. There is still no response concerning the Cabinaire coming to our event. We will look into bringing in other aircraft. The plane from Howell, Michigan, the Texas a T-6 may still be available in place of the Cabinaire. At this time, we have no firm commitments for any war birds to be available for our fly-in.
Food permits have been applied for to cover both dates of our upcoming fly-in in July.
David Piotroski has secured both porta-potties and garbage bags as a donation for our event.
2. The Frankenmuth Military Museum has made a commitment to support the “We Support the 1%” effort here at the airport. They have also committed to helping out on the day of our fly-in event.
3. Jerry Thompson, the director of the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival Parade, has invited us to be a part of the parade this year on June 14th. The parade starts at 1:00 p.m. The theme is “FLAG DAY”. Fred Kapa and David Piotrowski have agreed to be available to participate in the parade. Fred was given the application to complete and submit.
4. There are some upcoming Gun and Knife Shows that we may wasn’t to participate. They are at Novi, and Grand Rapids. There does not appear to be any competition at these two shows for dog tags. We may want to consider taking the dog tag machine to either or both of these shows rather than the Birch Run event as there are other dog tag machines at Birch Run that we are competing with.
5. Dan Kenny advised he will be responsible for the Family Days at Nexteer this year. David indicated he will be available for the Veteran’s event at the Masonic Center.
6. Both the Nexteer and the Masonic Center requested a fly 0ver with our L-2. We were advised that the plane’s fuel lines have been repaired and the plane is now in working order.
7. Barb advised that a few more members have sent in their dues for this year, and she has sent out their membership cards already.
8. It was brought to our attention that Al Kaufmann is getting ready to paint the hangar. Al has asked if we would be willing to purchase the paint for the hangar, and he and his crew will be responsible for all the labor, to include preparation, scraping and painting. The estimated cost for the paint is $400-$500.
Barb Hatfield made a motion to spend up to $500 on paint for the hangar. The motion was seconded by David Piotrowski and passed by the council and membership.
9. Brenda Mikesell reported that our hangar rent was higher than normal this month because the added cost of the heating was included.

We have been asked to donate a portion of the proceeds from our dog tag machine to the fund raising cause. Fred Kapa volunteered to take the dog tag machine to the event on that date,
Barb Hatfield made a motion to contribute $2 for each dog tag that we sell at the Veteran’s Support Center in Caro, Michigan. The motion was seconded by David Piotrowski and passed by the council and members.
