Award: A $1000.00 scholarship dependent on BGSU enrollment with a major in any field of science or mathematics. The scholarship will be automatically renewed for three additional years provided recipient completes 24 hours per academic year, stays in one of the above majors, and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Northwest Ohio American Industrial Hygiene Award

For: Recognition of outstanding research and knowledge in the area of environmental and/or occupational health and safety
Students recognized through the presentation of this award will have achieved excellence and displayed exemplary competence in one of the following areas: environmental science, occupational health/safety, hazardous materials management, toxicological studies, or environmental chemistry.
Some examples include research involving hearing protection, respirator use, chemical exposure in the workplace or school, pollution prevention, indoor air quality, accidents or injuries, back safety and ergonomics, chemical management in the workplace, fire safety, emergency response, exposures to environmental factors such as heat and cold stress, electrical fields, and radiation, air and water monitoring, and hazardous spills remediation.
Award: For grades 7-8: the first place awardee will receive $30.00 plus a certificate and the second place awardee will receive $20.00 plus a certificate. For grades 9-12: the first place awardee will receive $50.00 plus a certificate and the second place awardee will receive $30.00 plus a certificate, total award of $130.00.

Award Explanation:
This award is presented annually to a maximum of 3 students (grades 7-9) at NW District Science Day, who explore and research through an experiment, an issue that addresses a problem related to the Earth’s ecology or the preservation of its natural or biological resources.
Examples are listed but are not limited to the following: endangered species, plant or animal habitat, chemical impact, soil, water, and other environmental factors.
Scope of Award:
· Up to three awards will be awarded by special judges from the S.A.V.E. Board of Trustees.
· Judges have the right to present or withhold the awards based on the caliber of the students’ research and presentation.
Award:
· Notification of the Award will be issued at NW District Science Day Award Ceremony.
· An official certificate and a $25.00 monetary award will be presented at the Annual S.A.V.E. Dessert Reception and Awards Ceremony at the Franciscan Theater and Conference Center in early May. (Awardee is invited to display and present the
project.)
· Full scholarship to attend one week of Summer Science Camp at the Center for Science Education and the Environment (CSEE) on the Lourdes University Campus in July. Notification and registration sent by mail (Value = $100).

Science of Food, Nutrition and Health Award

Applicants may examine the use, misuse, adverse effects, or cost of using any such agent(s).
