Sister School Partnerships
Expression of Interest Form
1. Please provide a brief explanation outlining why you wish to establish a sister school relationship with a school in Victoria:
We hear Victoria State puts particular emphasis on education compared with other states and that many students are interested in Japan and the Japanese language. Yamada High school, which I worked for until last March, has a sister school relationship with Bentleigh Secondary College in Victoria. That's why I'd like to establish a sister school relationship with another school in Victoria.
2. What does your school hope to achieve from a sister school relationship?
To develop friendship and cooperation between two schools and promote mutual understanding and cultural awareness between Victoria, Australia and Japan.
To support the teaching of Japanese in Victoria and English in Japan.
To develop students into citizens who are globally engaged, comfortable with diversity, and with the skills to operate effectively across cultures with different world views and belief systems.
3. What activities does your school propose to undertake to implement the program?
To visit a school in Victoria and experience a school life in Australia for one week to 10 days to study English every other year. We also expect a partner school to visit our school if possible in order to experience Japanese school life and culture.
To exchange students' e-mails, letters, photos, student newspapers, etc. in order to promote mutual understanding.
To Involve the community through newsletters and websites and inviting parents in order to meet with the visiting students and teachers.

4. What financial and other resources is the school prepared to commit to this program?
Our school has a PTA support system which provides grants to this program.
Osaka Prefectural Board of Education supports grants to maintain the program.
How do you anticipate the program will be sustained by the school?
6.
I have already had the experience of maintaining the program at my previous high school, Yamada High School. Yamada High School students and teachers have participated in the exchange program with its sister school in Victoria. That's why I anticipate almost the same program as Yamada will also be sustained by our school through the cooperation of both schools.
How does your school intend to evaluate the effectiveness and benefits of the program to the school?
Regularly we intend to review the effectiveness and benefits in various ways. One of the ways of evaluating the program is to have the students complete the questionnaires about various activities of the program.
