About the Charity
The aim of Disability Snowsport UK is to promote equality and opportunity for anyone of any age with disabilities to take part in snowsports and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice. Disability Snowsport UK is now the lead charity in adaptive skiing and not only provides access to Snowsports for all but is also responsible for;
- A network of local adaptive skiing groups throughout the UK
- Schools & Youth programmes
- Training for volunteers, instructors and ski centre staff
- The British Disabled Ski Team
- Overseas activity weeks in Europe & America
- Advice, information and support
Volunteers join to provide assistance to all those who take part in these activities. Without the high standard and quality of our volunteers the charity would not be able to run. Disability Snowsport UK are currently looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Assistant to support their work based at Chill Factor e, Manchester.
One of our new events is our Peak 2 Peakcycle challenge which is taking place this year in September 2010. We need someone initially to help with the administration and PR in the 4 month lead up to the event as well as help oversee the event on the day.

Volunteer Role Description
Title:Volunteer Fundraising Assistant
Reports to: Events Fundraiser
Location:Disability Snowsport UK North West Office –Chill Factor e, Manchester
Purpose: To support the Fundraising & Events Team aiming to raise awareness of the charity, help raise funds and creating new contacts and networking for future events.
Hours:1-2 days flexible
Volunteer Fundraising Assistant duties
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Provide administration support to fundraising team where applicable.
- Assist fundraising team with running and marketing of events.
- Log all enquiries on supporter database.
- Liaise with events fundraiser to develop community fundraising.
- Coordination of new and existing case studies to support trust and grant applications as well as PR.
- Assist with marketing and PR article enquiries.
- General office duties i.e. telephone enquiries, stationary orders.
- Support with website reports on latest fundraising news.
- Contribute to the events committee meetings.
- Complete a relevant CRB check if necessary (DSUK will inform you of this).
Key Skills
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail and flexible approach to work
- Be able to create and modify documents in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Good communication skills
- Confidence when speaking on the phone
- Commitment to Disability Snowsport UK’s vision & ethos.
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in an office environment
- Previous experience of working or volunteering in the not for profit sector
- Previous experience of working in the Marketing Sector
- An interest in fundraising.
- An interest in snowsports.
