The UNE Business School Work 300 China Study Tour November 2014
The following itinerary is a draft proposal designed to give you insights into the proposed schedule, we are currently working on finalising the details of the program.There will be 15 students in the group accompanied by two UNE academics from the UNE Business School.
Day 1 Sunday 16 November
In the Morning the group departsSydney for Beijing. We arrive in Beijing in the evening where we will meet our Chinese guide at Beijing airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 Monday 17November: Beijing
Today’s program includes an introduction to China with meetings with economic and agricultural advisors to discuss Chinese history, the economy, agriculture and industry.
After lunch we visit the Juyongguan Great Wall (2 hours free walking and climbing) and in the evening there will be a welcome business dinner.

Day 3Tuesday 18 November: Beijing
This morning we will visit Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City. After this visit, the group will transfer to a regional agricultural sector, for a visit to a large cattle enterprise.The companywas established in 1997, covering 130 hectares and specializing in cattlefattening.The farm produces 80,000 cattle and 200,000 sheep per annum.This company is a member of the China Muslin Food Association and 80% ofits 1800 employees are Muslin Hui. The company has its own pasture areasto support its feedlot facility. The group will have a beef Hot-pot lunchat the farm. In the afternoon we will visita nearby cattle feedlot and wheatfarmand then drive back to central Beijing for dinner.

Day 4 Wednesday 19 November: Beijing – Yantai
This morning after breakfast in the hotel, we fly from Beijing to Yantai,upon arrival in Yantai we will transfer to downtown to have lunch and check into the hotel. In the afternoon, the group visits the Shandong Institute of Business and Technology for a series of activities with Shandong students and staff. The group will join the Shandong students and staff for the evening dinner.

Day 5 Thursday20 November: Yantai
A full day of business visits, meetings with local government officials and interactions with our Shandong colleagues is currently being finalised.

Day 6 Friday21 November: Yantai – Weifang
Breakfast at hotel
After breakfast we travel to the Yantai Zhangyu wine company to visit the museum, wine cellar, processing line and have an in-depth discussion on development of Chinese wine industry. The group will continue the drive to Weifang,en-route visitingthe Shandong Shouguang Vegetable Industry Group Co., Ltd. This organisation is located in Shouguang City, which is renowned as the “Vegetable City of China”. The city hosts large-scale 60 thousand hectare vegetable plantings and production.The visit will include discussion with the management on the vertical integration of the vegetable farming and processing sectors. The main products are IQF and fresh vegetables and fruit, dried tomatoes, and tomato paste. The products being widely sold to Europe, the USA, Japan, Korea, South Africa, the Middle East, and Hong Kong.

Day 7 Saturday 22 November: Weifang – Shanghai
After breakfast we drive to visit the Confucius Temple and mansion in Qufu. This is the oldest and largest temple dedicated to Confucius, and was established in 479 BC, one year after Confucius’s death. The temple has been expanded repeatedly over the past 2000 years.
Then we drive to Jinan Railway Station and to take one of China’s fast modern trains to Shanghai for the 4 hour rail trip to Shanghai.

Day8 Sunday 23 November: Shanghai
After breakfast we will visit a local community in Shanghai (this is an opportunity to meet with officials from the community to discuss social structures and management, we will also visit a Community History Hall, Kindergarten, and vegetable market.
Lunch will be taken with several local families, giving an opportunity for personal interaction. After lunch we stroll along the Bund(the main thoroughfare of Shanghai, adjacent to the river) also visiting retail shopping precincts on the famous Nanjing Road. After dinner there is the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Chinese acrobatic show.

Day9 Monday 24 November: Shanghai-Hong Kong
After breakfast we visit the Old Town, including the Yuyuan garden and aHuangpu River cruise.
After a business luncheon with local trade officials and a series of short meetings we will transfer to the airport for flight to Hong Kong.

Day 10 Tuesday 25 November: Hong Kong
A full day of HongKongtrade and business meetings is being finalised.

Day 11 Wednesday 26 November : Hong Kong
After breakfast we visit the outer islands of Hong Kong with a guided walk and discussions on environmental sustainability and land use management.

Day 12 Thursday 27 November: Hong Kong – Back Home
Morning is free with late check out from the hotel , free time in afternoon for private visits. In the evening transfer to airport for international flight back to Australia. (B)
