Enclosed is the information for the ABC Face to Face event scheduled for April 20-21, 2007, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
The success of this FACE TO FACE event will greatly depend on your help and participation. Since you are on the “frontline” with churches and clergy seeking new leadership and ministerial opportunities, your assistance in encouraging participation and ensuring registration will be critical. We will also be informing appropriate seminaries, the Ministerial Opportunities Listing, American Baptist Personnel Services, and MMBB about this event.
We will be using ABPS materials and forms for the Face to Face which have proven effective and included information ministers and churches have said they want from each other to make interview choices. All participants must be registered with American Baptist Personnel Services. Registration will only be accepted using these materials to ensure consistency and fairness for all participants. Registrants will also be asked to complete a Covenant of Confidentiality before receiving names of other participants. This is very critical to the success of Face to Face so all participants may feel they can participate in a climate of trust and openness with those they meet.
To allow adequate time for processing registration and corresponding with participants regarding preference requests, we have set a preferred registration deadline of March 30, 2007. Registrations may be received after this date, but interview preferences will be difficult to honor with less time for correspondence. No one will be allowed to participate without advance registration. Once clergy and Pastoral Search Committees are registered, there may be no contact until the Face to Face event.
The fees for the Face to Face Event are:
Clergy $50.00
Church Search Committee $100.00
Lunch Friday Afternoon $5.00 Per Person
Dinner Friday Evening $10.00 Per Person
All clergy participants must be considered “ministers in good standing.” Each clergy will need a Readiness for Ministry form sent in by his or her Area Minister or Executive Minister. All participants must be ABPS registered.
