3 / Coaching & Competition
  • Sally mentioned that the Saturday morning Couch-5k sessions were still having high numbers every week – 5 weeks into the current course & we have had 11 new members join the club from his program – great news, welcome all.
  • Louise also mentioned that we have 6 new junior members & currently there is no junior waiting list.
  • Tony mentioned that recent events had not been as well attended as previous years.
  • George mentioned that the recent Sportshall competition in Plymouth’s Life Centre had a moderate turn out of 18 of our juniors, however TAC broke 5 club records;
  • Ella Whitford in the speed bounce
  • Bea Kinnear in the vertical jump
  • Tom Harris in the speed bounce
  • Sheldon Higgins in the sitting throw
  • Nicolas Maczugowski in the high Jump
Well done to all of you.
The next Sportshall competition is 25th February, again at the Life Centre in Plymouth.
  • Alistair mentioned that we had 3 people interested in doing a LIRF (Leader in Running Fitness) course & 5 people interested in doing a Coach Assistance course.
  • Mhairi has taken on the role of Junior Coach Co-Ordinator. Mhairi was unable to attend the meeting but did email Alistair her Junior Development Pathway structure which she would like to see put into place – this would be so individuals will see where they fit into the structure – this will soon be available to see on our website.
  • Alistair is hoping to see a similar structure put into place for the senior groups.
  • We currently have 233 entries in for the Tavy 13 with no promotion so far, this will be on Sunday 18th March this year. We are short of volunteers for Traffic Management, on this note there is a Traffic Management course in Exeter 24th March, if anyone is interested in doing please let Sally know & she will get the course details to you. This course is after our event but it will still give you the TM qualification for any future events.
  • Alistair said he would like to see our own TAC Sportshall event organised – to be opened up to other clubs in the area.
  • Alistair said he would also like to see some evening events for the whole club to take part in – to include a 100m, a 600m & a mile to attract all members, & to make this an official event. Other members of the committee suggested a better idea would to make it more of a fun event for the whole club to do together making it a “come & have a go evening”.

4 / Equipment & Facilities:
  • The garage is still a mess & the long jump cover still needs replacing – Alistair to write to the college about this.
  • Alistair asked if Tony would take on the role of maintaining the club asset register, Tony agreed to make a start on this but it was agreed that in order to make this work we need some sort of lockup facility – Alistair to speak to the college to discuss getting a container erected close to the track.
  • Tammie has requested some harnesses for her sprints coaching.
  • Alistair has applied for the club to become a CASC – a Community Amateur Sports Club which would make us a more formal business with a legal entity allowing us to Gift Aid & claim for grants.

5 / Marketing/Website:
  • Mat Cuckston has offered to host & redesign the structure of our website.
  • Alistair suggested that we try to setup an on-line register for training sessions.
  • We need to refresh the content & images of the website as lots of things are out of date plus the club contact link needs to be revamped.
  • Alistair suggested we all have club business cards to hand out inviting people to come along.
  • Alistair suggested the possibility of having coach photos on the website with a blog about that coach – this could be helpful to our juniors parents so they can see who their child trains with.

6 / Club Hoodies:
  • Dene asked if club hoodies were available to order – the answer is yes, they can be purchased from Fitness for Sport 142 Cornwall Street Plymouth or you can also order on-line from them -
