Position summary:Responsible for producing and editing video, photo and graphic and audio content for Post’s social media platforms that demonstrate PCVs working in Kyrgyz and/or Russian with their local communities, host families, and counterparts. Coordinates with national and local media – especially radio and television -- for national airing and / distribution on their social media of existing content as well as working cooperatively with such media to produce new content of PCVs working and living in Kyrgyzstan. Term of position is limited to not exceed 8 months.
Coordinates with: Peace Corps staff from Program, Security, Medical and Admin Units, Volunteers, and PC HQ.
Travel: This position requires 15% travel throughout Kyrgyz Republic, including some remote villages where Peace Corps Volunteers are serving.
Supervised and evaluated by: Country Director
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Education: The Communications Coordinator for Special Projectsshould have a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Graphic Arts, Creative Arts, or Video production.
- Prior work experience: Two years’ experience in videography, video editing, and production suitable for TV features as well as producing social media short videos and must be able to demonstrate proficiency in those skills.
- Team Player: Demonstrates collaborative skills, adapt wells to frequent changes and priorities, anticipates opportunities and challenges, and positively contributes to a team environment.
- Technology: Technical Videography skills to shoot long and short video and edit in post -production in programs such as Adobe after Effects and Adobe Premier Pro. Additional knowledge working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are highly desirable. Basic experience utilizing multiple tripods, cameras, and video equipment to enrich storytelling. The position also requires experience using social media for promoting feature stories and news releases via Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram aimed at mobile phone, social media communities. It may be an advantage for applicants who can provide portfolio or work samples. Also, incumbent is expected to be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Peace Corps: Clear understanding of the work of Kyrgyz Republic Volunteers sufficient to plan coordinate and arrange content production with their communities, counterparts, and host-families to be featured on various national and regional media.
- Media Contacts: Demonstrates that s/he has established contacts in the Bishkek TV and radio markets with other media in outlying Oblasts – such as Talas and Osh.
- Languages: Fluent in English, and working knowledge of Kyrgyz and Russian is preferred.
