Provided with the best of intentions in order to share information that may help you in submitted a better application!
- If the application was completed correctly and you included all requested information – there may be relatively few comments from the reviewers (notes already provided)
- Narrative should match budget or the budget should reflect what you are describing in the application
- Request number on page 1 should match the amount in the budget revenue section (ZAP Request)
- If the budget line asks for an explanation and you included a number in that line please explain
- If there is considerable growth or decrease in budget between years, please explain
- Spell out acronyms
- Board prefers short and concise mission statements (do not include goals, objectives et.al.)

- In the specific notes, you may have noticed requests for clarification. Please take this as advice for use in next year’s application.
- If you list “staff”on the first page of the application, you should also have money listed under the staff budget line 13.
- Salaries mean you pay employment tax
- If you don’t pay staff then don’t list them as “staff” on page one. If a person functions as a staff person but doesn’t receive compensation they are a “volunteer” or if they receive a fee or honorarium they may be “contracted”
